Lady Vol tennis falls to No. 4 Florida, 4-0

The Tennessee women’s tennis team lost its second conference match of the season with a 4-0 loss to Florida in Gainesville on Sunday.

Despite winning their last three contests, the Lady Vols were unable to get anything going against the Gators (11-2, 4-1 SEC). Tennessee’s duo of Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely won the first doubles contest of the day, 8-2 but the Tennessee team failed to even win another set during the rest of competition.

After two doubles losses, Mimi Fotopoulos and Tiffany Tavares lost in straight sets for the Lady Vols. No. 20 Brynn Boren lost to the nation’s top player Lauren Embree to clinch the match for the Gators.

The loss occurred so quickly that three singles matches were left unfinished when the match ended.

Tennessee competes again next weekend with two more conference matchups at home.

The Lady Vols (5-6, 3-2) will host Kentucky at Barksdale Stadium on Friday at 5 p.m. then Vanderbilt on Sunday at 10 a.m.
