The rain kept falling Sunday, washing out any chance of Tennessee baseball at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The Vols (18-26, 6-16 SEC) first planned to squeeze in a doubleheader to make up for Saturday’s rainout against Georgia. Then the plan reverted to a 3:30 p.m. single game.
It wasn’t to be. Georgia (17-28, 5-16) headed home with the 8-7 Friday-night win in the battle between the two bottom teams in the SEC standings.
The Vols remain 13th in the standings, percentage points behind 12th-place Missouri in the chase to qualify for the SEC tournament.
UT returns to action Wednesday night at home against Arkansas State (24-24). First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The Vols travel to Arkansas next weekend, then close the regular season with a four-game home stand. Morehead State visits May 14, then Texas A&M May 16-18.
