Tennessee senior center James Stone was one of 44 players selected to the Rimington Trophy spring watch list on Tuesday.

The trophy honors the nation's top collegiate center. Nine SEC centers are on the watch list.

A native of Nashville, Stone started all 12 games for the Vols in 2012.

Stone was plagued by snapping miscues a year earlier but opted to start snapping with his right hand on under-center snaps while using his natural left hand on longer shot-gun snaps. Stone is one of four senior starters on an offensive line that is considered one of Tennessee's strengths in 2013.

He isn't the only one who is/will be on watch lists for OL awards. That is one area we are among the best in the country. Gotta get their back-ups up to speed quick though 'cause several of these are NFL bound.

Jams is a good guy! I wish he would be a little stronger, meaner, and much more violent. I believe this is the goal the coaches have given him as well. Be a leader young man!. Get nasty!

I believe the young man had trouble with snaps because he had been asked to snap with his opposite hand....I can see how that could be difficult sort of like a left handed golfer being asked to play using right handed clubs. Good luck and thanks for your hard work and dedication to the team and our university.

That's a pretty wide net they're casting just now. Glad Stone is on the list, but all it means right now is that he is thought to be one of the top 44 centers in college football. That would seem to be a pretty high percentage of all the centers this year! It really will show something if he is still in contention a couple months into the season.
