Another stupid poll question. Who makes these up? Please state your name so we can appropriately ridicule you. What is the point of the question? Are the readers of this forum somehow familiar with this player fom Memphis? If Martin did not add a point guard before the start of the season, is the poll question inferring that if he had not, the Vols would not make the tournament?
They should make the tournament with or without Barton, so the question is ridiculous.
They should have made the tournament the last two years.
Here's a poll question: Do you feel that the author of these poll questions should (A.) Image be painted on the rock under the word "Tool" ( B.) Be given a dunce cap and made to sit in a corner at all of next season's basketball practices (C.) be given a free T-Shirt with the words, " Bless My Heart" (D) Fired

Not sure why anyone here thinks we would make the tourney without a PG. If anyone here witnessed the play when Golden was out with an injury you would know that you can have all the scorers in the world but if you can't get them the ball the team will look and be disfunctional (please do not say Thompson he has not played PG in high school so why should we expect him to excel in college as PG as a freshman) . Barton is a great pick up and yes he gets UT into the tourney.

Your probably right about Thompson. However, Blackman did use Thompson at the point in the Quarterfinals of the State Tournament which may have cost them the game.

claiborneh,

Agree 100%. Things are going so slowly this time of year that whomever is behind these brilliant polls says " let's have another poll."

Next one will be something like " do you like basketball?"

or poll........" do you think the high school sophomores being recruited will lead the Vols to a title in 6 years?" Good grief

No one person gets you anywhere. In case the sports editors missed it, basketball is a TEAM sport! What a dumb question!

With the talent and experience on this team, just getting into the tourney is not the goal, merely a first step.

UT was not in the big dance before Barton and they are not a sure thing now..they are going to have to work hard and beat some very talented teams to get in..I would rather take my chances with Barton than Golden..look at what he did against UT..and he can defend baseline to baseline..this fills a huge need for the Vols...

LOL You could say, "look what Golden didn't do against Memphis." But it was the Jackson kid that beat us I guess.

All we needed last year was a dependable PG that could dish the ball and defend the perimeter. I think Thompson or Barton can do that with most teams. Don't be surprised to see Moore at point some as well. Maybe a lot. I can't say what he's done over the off season. We'll see soon...but not too soon. Go lady Vol softball!!

Chris4Vols22 writes:

Yes, even though we probably could have still gotten a bid letting Thompson and Richardson run point.

I just can't see Richardson at point. He's too good at the wing. Only when we have to have him there. He can defend the point and still move to the 2 or 3 on offense. Thompson, Moore, or Brandon all handle the ball well. Lopez can get better. It's just that he has no offensive threat...so far. I'm certain that's the reason he's a walk-on.

With Barton though we now have a tested point. They'll all see plenty of playing time I think. For the first time in a while we may guard the opponent to death.

I may regret these words. But we probably will not miss Golden. He gave us moments of greatness. He also gave us moments of doubts. That's sports for ya. I DO wish him the best wherever he plays.

If you don't like KNS poles, don't read. It is a free world still. You do have a problem.Get it fixed before it destroy's you.

You are very wrong. No school would become National or even conference champions without having at least one outstanding player. You are the one associated with DUMB.

He he! I sincerely doubt that either of you are "dumb". Both your points have validity.

KNS however? I like KNS or I wouldn't read these ridiculous polls.

But it's true that there always will be the "outstanding players(s)".

It's also true that those outstanding players have to fit into the team concept.

YOU'RE both right. Well except for the "dumb" idea!

I'm not really trying to take up for the disenchanted KNS readers but he has some good thoughts here.

1. I too believe we would have made the tournament with or without Barton. But our prospects are higher now and he was a tremendous addition.

2. I too think we should have been in the tournament the past two years...even though we took the control out of our own hands both years.

3. The rest of his own poll about KNS is prolly meant to be humorous more than an attack on our beloved KNS staff. I think so anyhow.

PLEASE! Don't give them any ideas.

BTW it's not that slow for news. Ask anyone living in Oklahoma right now or Kansas.

Speaking of which I hope the Lady Vols are ok in Ok. seriously
