One of two California men accused of tampering with evidence in the rape of an unconscious Vanderbilt University student will get a chance to enter a plea in court today.
Miles Joseph Finley, 20, of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., is charged with one felony count of evidence tampering. His defense attorney, Bernie McEvoy, said his client won’t be appearing in court, having waived his personal appearance at arraignment today. He declined to comment further about the case.
Prosecutors had initially sought a bond of $150,000 for Finley, but they later agreed to drop it to $10,000. He is free on bond.
Finley is charged alongside Joseph Dominick Quinzio, 20, of Palm Desert, Calif.. Police have accused both of deleting electronic evidence in the June 23 rape of an unconscious Vanderbilt student in a dorm room. Quinzio remains in California, fighting extradition to Tennessee.
