Texas A&M sweep drops Lady Vols to 1-12 in SEC

Texas A&M swept Tennessee in volleyball Friday at College Station, dropping the Lady Vols to 1-12 in SEC play.

The Aggies (15-10, 7-7 SEC) won 25-17, 25-14, 25-10.

Tennessee led 12-11 in the first set but the Aggies responded to take control and set the tone.

Senior Whitney Heeres led Tennessee with seven kills, hitting at a .375 clip. Shealyn Kolosky and freshmen Jamie Lea and Ashley Mariani added five apiece.

Lexi Dempsey recorded 18 assists.

Senior libero Ellen Mullins scooped 15 digs.

Mullins trails Chloe Goldman by 37 digs on UT’s all-time career chart with five regular-season games remaining.

The Nashville native also moved into eighth on the SEC’s all-time career digs chart with 1,718.

Tennessee (9-18) returns home to face the LSU Tigers on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Thompson-Boling Arena.

All kids ages 12 and under get in free. Fans with tickets to the Lady Vols’ basketball game against Georgia Tech also get in free.
