Key matchups

Citadel F Brian White (Fr., 6-6, 180, 15.5 ppg, 7.8 rpg) vs. UT F Jeronne Maymon (Sr., 6-8, 260, 11 ppg, 10.5 rpg): White is off to a hot start this season, but he hasn’t encountered a frontcourt like UT’s. Maymon might cool the freshman off.

Citadel G Ashton Moore (Jr., 6-0, 172, 13 ppg, 3.8 rpg) vs. UT G Robert Hubbs (Fr., 6-6, 206, 3.0 ppg, 0.5 rpg): If UT gets out of the gate early, Hubbs should play quite a bit. His defense has been suspect so far. Will he show signs of improvement against Moore?

The skinny

After tough games against Xavier and USC Upstate, the Vols meet their first non-conference opponent who should be drastically outmatched. The Citadel is picked to finish last in the Southern Conference. So far, the Vols have relied on their five starters for 91 percent of their points. The reserves should get a chance to show what they can do if UT takes care of business.
