Tennessee Vols lining up juco recruits ready to help quickly

KNOXVILLE — Help is on the way for the University of Tennessee football program.

Some of it will need to help sooner than the rest.

Through the 2014 recruiting class, the first full one for first-year coach Butch Jones and his staff, the Volunteers will overhaul more than a third of the roster, so it was necessary for them to comb the junior college ranks for players who were more ready to play immediately than those making the jump from high school.

The Vols' current group of 31 commitments includes four recruits ranked in the top 27 of 247sports.com's rankings for junior college prospects.

I am convinced that we will all be feeling better this time next year.

Good move for the JUCOs....less likely to be buried on a depth chart.

Necessary move for the Vols. Nobody wants another reprise of the past what.....5(I've lost count) years.

Hope you're right.

This time last year I was convinced we all would be feeling better now. Somehow I'm not.

It's longer than 5 years. In the last decade we are 3 and 17 vs our two biggest "Rivals." This Millennium we are 8 and 20 vs them. And if you go all the way back to the National Title year we are 11 and 21.

Going back to the National Title year we have played in only 11 bowl games and are 4 and 7 in those games and are 1-3 in SEC Title games.

This Millennium we are 103 and 71 over all. There are kids that are getting their drivers license this year that weren't born the last time Tennessee won a National Title. Considering you don't remember much from before you are 4 or 5...it would be safe to say that there are people today, who can legally buy beer, who don't remember the last time Tennessee won a conference title.

This slide started LONG before Dooley or Kiffin. IMHO it started when the guy who beat Miami last night decided to leave Tennessee.

We will eventually get back....but we are A LONG way from there and it will take A LONG time.

Go Vols.

OP ..think about it ..how can you not feel better than last year..the VOls did get the win over a ranked team..they are going to have a great recruiting year..they still have a chance to win six..and even if they don't..5-7 was the prediction of the vast majority..Jones has strong support from former players and the majority of fans..this is improvement..
