Vanderbilt's rise adds recruiting obstacle for Vols, other SEC teams

Vols not the only option for TN prospects

The rules of football coaching diplomacy won’t allow it, but if Tennessee’s coaches could be given a dose of truth serum, they might admit that recruiting would be a lot easier if Vanderbilt went back to posting 2-10 records every year.

It's just a matter of time before James Franklin takes the big money at another school and runs. When Franklin leaves, unless Vandy can pull another magic rabbit out of the hat, the Commodores will slip back to the bottom of the pack in the SEC.

Even as we have struggled on the field the UT athletic department has poured money into facility upgrades that Vanderbilt can't touch.

Yes, James Franklin has been the flavor of the month for the last couple of years, but I don't see that lasting much longer.

Franklin might be back at Vandy next year, but if he makes it four consecutive bowl games somebody will throw a load of money at him that he can't refuse. I also get the impression that Franklin has an ego that will eventually push him to see if he can do more than he'll ever be able to accomplish at Vanderbilt.

As CBJ says, "it is what it is". With the fakes now gone, UT is recruiting BIG time players and will continue to upgrade speed and character. This staff will coach them up to be competitive until the depth is built and then we'll once again sing RockyTop loud and often. It doesn't matter if Franklin stays or not. Let's be realistic and wait the needed three years.

Caveman say the beacon on the hill has been relit and is shining again across the skies of America. UT RISING BABY!!!! Hell yeah...
