KNOXVILLE — When officials initially ruled that Vanderbilt quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels had been stopped short of the first-down marker inside the final minute, the bulk of Neyland Stadium erupted in celebration.

Not so fast. This is Tennessee football, where defeat sometimes is yanked from the jaws of victory.

“I told everybody, ‘Calm down. It might not be over yet,’ ” Vols offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James said.

Such is the current state of Vol Ball. The combination of bad karma and mediocre football doesn’t leave much margin for error.

If I were a Tennessee verbal commit for next year, after watching Jones and his staff coach the Vols to a worse performance than the week before for the past 6 weeks, I'd RUN to another school...and that includes VANDY. Recruiting and talking big are one thing...coaching is another and Jones and his staff just gave us all a preview of their skills and poor judgement. Mark my words...he'll be gone in 4 or 5 years after he replaces his staff and we all suffer through more humiliating seasons. All of you IDIOTS who thought it a good idea to fire Fulmer...you're getting just what you deserve. Thanks Mike Hamilton for reducing our football program to a laughing stock. Oh and by the way, get RID of those stupid, ugly, sickening GREY uniforms. This is TENNESSEE not Oregon. Worn them twice...lost both times.

Don't say I didn't tell you so, and get flamed for it by other posters. Funny how the butch slappers and coach worshipers all disappeared.

Garbage talk like this is senseless..Jones will be here a long time and too many fans and former players believe he is leading this program in a competent manner to even blink when faced with this disaster..and that is what it is..but guess what..it has been a long time in the making and it will not be solved overnight..this game could easily have gone to UT ..then what would we be saying..it will take more than this to convince the majority of UT fans that Jones is not going to get the job done..and in a reasonable amount of time..
