Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley acknowledged Tuesday that Georgia’s — the Vols’ opponent Saturday (TV: WVLT, 3:30 p.m.) — defense is talented and athletic. But it has proved to be vulnerable at times, which gives the Vols hope.

Thank you, Mr. Worley, for watching tapes of the UG defense. Please do not forget that you are the man, the target, and the object of every single move that is attempted by our offense. In other words, they already have your number and are lickin their chops to begin the process of decimating you and our team. Perhaps your next contribution to the media will exclude calling out weaknesses on an SEC team who are already ranked in the top 10. Physician, heal thyself.

I'm sure Justin is aware that the Georgia defense knows the vulnerable areas of the Tennessee offense too. I just hope the Vols will play the 'Dogs tough like they have in recent years.

Worley was complimentary of the Georgia team. Sure they could use the headline as bulletin board if they take it out of context, like a few people here. Apparently some either can't read or comprehend what the words mean.

Don't see too many holes in the Dawgs' offense, and I don't think we have the talent at the offensive skill positions to expose them on defense anyway.

It would be great to win this game, and to get 3 or 4 SEC wins this year, but it probably won't happen. Hopefully fans can look beyond the immediate situation and see that what's most capable of killing our program is impatience.

Sure, you have to hire the right guy, but you also have to give him time to become competitive in the SEC. Which we are not. And which one recruiting class won't make us next year when we lose the offensive line.

Agree with your post completely. We're growing, and that will take time. Patience, as you said, is the key to rebuilding. I do believe CBJ is going about it the right way. The number of freshmen we play should be an indicator of the length of time it will take to turn this program around. ALL VOL ... ALL THE TIME

I think you are 100% correct in stating impatience is what is most capable of killing the program.. UT fans are weary of not being competitive and it will be very difficult to maintain ticket sales..I don't see anything Worley has said here that should be seen as bulletin board material..and I think it is obvious Ga is more about offense than defense..but even so..it is going to be tough for the Vol offense to score enough points to keep it close..I don't see the Vol defense holding Ga to less than 40..hope I'm wrong..

Not the biggest fan of Wobbles....but...you get the same result on a timing route if the receiver comes out of his break early instead of being physical enough to challenge the DB for space.

I hope you're wrong too, but I suspect you're right.

Georgia, like most teams now, has holes in their D but team speed allows them to fill those holes more quickly. We don't have that luxury.

johnlg00 writes:

Those defensive holes exploited by Clemson, LSU, and USCe may not look quite so inviting to the Vols' offense. Still, it does offer some hope that they can stay in the game. This would be a GREAT time for Croom or North to show some of their hitherto-undiscovered big-play ability. Once more, a huge share of the Vols' chances to be competitive falls on the shoulders of the O-line. This would be a great time for them to plant some folks on the line of scrimmage.

or someone missing a block and Worley has to throw quicker than he intended

Ever have one of those things that really burnt your grits at the time it occurred..but later on, worked out?

Remember the GA game last year? Our OL was blowing their boys completely off the line on every running play. They were holding their hips between plays, sucking air and we were gaining chunks....5...8...yards at a time. Ripping up the turf. Middle of the third quarter you just knew this thing was wrapped up in a big ol slobber-knocker ribbon.

Then here it goes...4 or 5 series in a row...third and short, like real short, Bray drops back on a 15 to 20 yard route that takes a lifetime to develop and gets shut down. Had 'em on the hook and the brain trust out-thunk itself. I was fit to be tied.

But...if they'd just kept running...we'd won the game...gone to a bowl...and not have the real fix prowling the sideline today. Still p's me off though.

Go TEAM #117....pound that rock!

Thanks KNS for the stupidest headline ever. If you want to give GA bulletin board material why don't you just move there and get a job in Athens. What a moron. Worley is no Bo Wallace so you had to make him one with your sensationalism. I don't appreciate it and I don't appreciate you. In fact I dare you to come on here and say who wrote that tripe. I know who writes the article isn't responsible for the byline. It's some pencil neck squint with intestines for brains.

The sad thing is, nobody's reading this site. So the chances of the stupid headline making its way to Georgia's locker room is pretty slim.

Compared to you, Worley is the greatest "smack" talker of all time. "Bones never make any sense".

Like anyone ever came to this site to read your moronic posts? I hope you play golf better than you talk. With your idea of success, you probably have a 30 handicap. You certainly have been a major handicap to this site.

Worley is a below average SEC quarterback. He has a below average arm, no mobility, and delivers the ball consistently off target. Naturally, he was the star recruit of the worst UT coach of all time. Anyone miss Tyler Bray?

The holes in the dawgs Defense could be exploited if (and this is a big "if")we had a real running game, WHICH WE DON'T. Both Lane and Neal are just okay backs. Nothing spectacular, at all. If a back can't have a 1000 yard season with this offensive line, he never will, and the scouts know it. Perhaps Worley knows it too, because Jones doesn't have the confidence in him to throw anymore of his lopsided, spiral-less throws, thus he hands the ball to Lane and Neal 75 percent of the time. Even a team with holes in its defense can stack the line and stop what they KNOW is coming. Shut your pie hole, and worry about a job after school, cuz I can guarantee you you won't see a snap in the leagues.

Hilarious reading these post. I told you guys before the year not to make predictions until you see how the QB situation unfolds. I do remember last year people calling for Bray to be benched for Worley. The truth is Worley is not the entire problem. The OL is the most over rated unit in College Football. The running backs are below SEC standard and the receivers drop too many passes. I don't see one inch of improvement over last years coaching staff. The Oregon QB broke his personal passing record just after halftime. S Alabama took this staff to the wire. Not impressed at all. Keep making thoise dooley type excuses.

You're absolutely correct. We have no difference makers on either side of the ball as i said before the season started. Jones is a solid coach however. He just hasn't proven thus far to be anything special. My little league coach was better than the former worst UT coach of all time.

the 2012 defense and the 2013 defense is TOTALLY different. i don't think that they'll rip off 70+ yard runs on us this year. AND, this game will be closer than the experts think...

smokey is the better dog anyway. ;)
