Butch Jones' friends in Saugatuck, Mich., are sending a message to Knoxville: "Go Vols!"
Several businesses from the hometown of the first-year Tennessee football coach purchased a half-page advertisement that will run in Saturday’s News Sentinel.
Jones was born and raised in Saugatuck, a small resort town on the shores of Lake Michigan. Jones visited his hometown over the Fourth of July weekend.
The advertisement reads: "The following businesses and friends from Saugatuck, MI (hometown of the Head Coach), wish the Coach and the Tennessee Volunteers the best of luck for Butch's first SEC home game as coach of the Volunteers. Beat those Georgia Bulldogs and best of luck for the rest of the season. Go Vols!"
The advertisement was paid for by Spectators Sports Bar and Restaurant; Wally's Bar and Grill; Phil's Bar and Grille; The Butler Restaurant; Coral Gables Restaurant; Saugatuck Harbor Insurance Agency/Mark Bekken; Saugatuck Drug Store and Soda Fountain; and the Saugatuck High School Athletic Department.
