GVX Audio: Evan Woodbery talks Vols
Tennessee's performance on Saturday against Georgia offers optimism for tough games to come.
News Sentinel Tennessee football beat writer Evan Woodbery said the Vols' clean play on both sides of the ball allowed them to keep the game close.
"Nothing came easy for Georgia. Tennessee made Georgia work for everything they got," Woodbery said. "That didn't always happen last year. You saw far too many drives that were over in one or two plays with a 65-yard touchdown pass. If you do that consistently, you give yourself a chance to hang around.
"The same thing was true with Tennessee's offense. Even in the first half, when they only scored three points, they didn't have any three-and-outs. The difference between six plays and a punt and three plays and a punt, over a course of a full game, can really make a difference. If you do that against any opponent, you have a chance to stick around and be there at the end."
