Tennessee volleyball gets first SEC win

After eight tries, Tennessee finally got its first SEC volleyball win of the season.

Led by freshman Raina Hembry’s 14 kills and four blocks, the Lady Vols swept South Carolina, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 Friday night in Columbia, S.C.

Tennessee (9-13, 1-7 SEC) had a .318 hitting percentage while holding South Carolina (11-10, 3-6) to a .072 mark. Hembry hit at a .667 clip, with no errors. Junior Shealyn Kolosky added nine kills while freshman Ashley Mariani added six. Freshman setter Abby Brewer dished out 17 assists. Sophomore Lexi Dempsey recorded her 14th double-double this year with 13 assists and 11 digs.
