Congrats to all the former Vols and Knoxvillians adorning NFL rosters! As Mike said, some of those names belong to guys nobody in "the big time" wanted out of HS, yet there they are earning nice money while some of their more highly-touted contemporaries are selling insurance or used cars.

As if anybody needed reminding, talent is where COACHES find it, and not necessarily where the recruit-rating services SAY it is. And most importantly, the famous "metrics" don't include categories for desire, determination, the physical potential for growth and development, and the ability to take coaching, yet those are the factors most predictive of success over the long haul.

The most important recruiting aid is the knowledgeable eye of a competent coach. I get the fact that UT must recruit nationally, and of course many of the guys mentioned in the article, among others not named, came to UT from far and wide, but there is more unsuspected talent right under our noses than some might think. I believe CBJ and staff know this, and future Vol rosters will include the majority of D-I level talent in the state.
