EUGENE, Ore. -- It was the type of performance that could tempt the hasty to rush to judgment, to think ahead. All the way to January, and to trophies that are crystal and shaped like a football.
So it was Saturday at the University of Oregon, on a surprisingly chilly afternoon, when the students were acting ... well, like students ... as the Ducks and Marcus Mariota were dissecting Tennessee with such ease. With no coaches to preach “Win the Day” or recite the “One game at a time” cliche, the Oregon students said what most around these parts couldn’t help but think as the No. 2 Ducks rolled to a 59-14 rout.
“We want ‘Bama! We want ‘Bama!”
