Tennessee cornerback Riyahd Jones, who transferred to Knoxville from a junior college in January but has yet to play a snap, could be back soon.
Jones tweeted on Tuesday that he had been "cleared to play" after seven weeks of "tears, pain, intense rehab, doctor visits and tests."
Jones was expected to win a starting cornerback job, but his absence has forced true freshman Cameron Sutton, Devaun Swafford and Malik Foreman into major roles.
Tennessee coach Butch Jones said in August that Jones was suffering from a calf injury.
A native of Columbus, Ga., Riyahd Jones started his career at Georgia Southern before transferring to Garden City (Kan.) Community College. He was one of the first players recruited and signed by Butch Jones' new coaching staff.
