Tennessee's ongoing quarterback saga hasn't had any impact on the Vols' recruiting outlook just yet.

Ryan Callahan, recruiting analyst for News Sentinel partner GoVols247, said the Vols currently only have one major quarterback target in the 2014 class.

Coaches are still pursuing Jalan McClendon, a Charlotte native who committed to North Carolina State in May.

The fact that Tennessee isn't aggressively pursuing many quarterbacks this year is an indication that coaches would like to keep all four of their current quarterbacks in the fold. That means using diplomacy to make sure no one transfers, especially true freshmen Riley Ferguson and Josh Dobbs.

"Beyond (McClendon), there's really not any other quarterback in the 2014 class that Tennessee's pursuing," Callahan said. "It's a tricky situation, and that's why I think that one of the reasons they've been very careful about making any statements about which freshman quarterback is ahead of the other."
