Did anyone official call these guys? Good way to get your name out there in case you never are asked. I as well am currently very happy in my non-coaching position since UT "may call", just saying....

Thank you Mr Hubbs.

Very big of both of the Hubbses. I hope UT hires somebody who justifies their faith. It's all water under the bridge now, but it is worth considering how much regard a player the caliber of young Mr. Hubbs had for Martin. He could have gone anywhere but he chose to come here because of Martin. It says a lot for his loyalty to the school, if that is what it is, that he is staying even though Martin is gone. I have a feeling he and Richardson are going to drag that team a LOT further next year than some might think right now.

As much respect as you have to have for the job Martin has done with the players, their education and maturation into fine young men, you have to realize he chose to leave.

Martin knew he was walking into a situation where fans felt blindsided by the NCAA and their own administration. Bruce Pearl was the most entertaining coach in America, and one of the best at building a staff and game planning opponents. He out-coached Donovan so completely you almost felt sorry for Little Billy. (I said almost). He was the biggest celebrity in our fair city.

He chose to take the Cal job. He left the UT players. I don't believe for a minute that Martin actually left because some fans wanted Pearl back. I think he realized the cupboard is almost bare, and the incoming players are not arriving SEC-ready. He did what was best for himself and his family. No fault there. But enough with the talk that he was mistreated by UT. He followed a legend. Ask Ron Zook how that worked out for him.

Mr. Hubbs is smart enough to know that if he performs up to his potential at Tennessee he will be a hero here with red carpet treatment for as long as he chooses to hang around. That opportunity does not exist in California. College athletics is not on their radar like it is here. If Chris Lofton wanted to, he could become mayor. Manning could be governor. Pat Summit is one of the most beloved Tennesseans in the state's history and likely would be university president if she chose to before tragedy struck. God knows we would have been much better off.

The same fans who loved Pearl and forgave his mistakes may wind up loving Hubbs just as much. Let's hope good things come his way.

I would not let Counzo back on campus to address his players now! He did not have the balls to address them prior to announcing his leaving and left it up to assistants to tell them!

Hope we can get a coach that can smile, show a little excitement, and win!

I agree completely with the idea of keeping Cuonzo Kiffin away from the TENNESSEE players at this point. If he were to meet with them, I believe the meeting should be closely monitored and have someone at the ready to throw the BS flag as needed. He's no longer the coach at TENNESSEE, what gives him the right to address the players. I have also heard that D. Hart was surprised at the announcement of Cuonzo Kiffin's departure. Has any statement been made that would lead one to think that Cal contacted the UT administration for permission to talk with Kudzu. I don't pretend to know all there is to know about the process in which they are engaged, but I do have enough common sense to know that it's not a good idea to allow Cuonzo Kiffin to address the team.

You last two posters rank right up there with Doug Dickey and Mike Hamilton who botched every basketball coaching hire for the last 25 years.

Coach Martin no longer works for the University. He should be concentrating on his new team not ours.
