Tennessee baseball coach Dave Serrano has said he believes his team will turn a corner in 2014. SEC coaches are not as convinced.

The Vols were picked to finish fifth in the SEC East in a preseason poll of league coaches released on Tuesday.

By points, the Vols were 10th of 14 teams in the league overall.

The Vols open their season at home on Friday against Nebraska-Omaha.

South Carolina was narrowly picked to win the East, and the overall league title with 86 points, while LSU (84 points) edged Mississippi State for first place (83) in the SEC West.

Overall, South Carolina received five of 14 votes to win the conference and LSU and Mississippi State each received four.

Last season, Vanderbilt won the East in the regular season and LSU won the West. LSU defeated Vanderbilt to win the SEC tournament.
