No. 14 Vols open tennis indoor nationals against No. 3 USC

Tennessee’s tennis men face a tough challenge Friday in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Houston. The 14th-ranked Vols open with No. 3 Southern California at 3 p.m.

The Vols (9-1) have been especially strong in doubles, with Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese forming the No. 1-ranked team in the nation. Reese is No. 17 and Libietis No. 45 in singles. Libietis has been ranked No. 1 previously in his career. He recently halted a three-match losing streak.

Reese (7-0) and freshman Markus Kerner (9-0) are both undefeated in singles. Kerner is also undefeated in doubles, going 9-0 with junior Andrew Dromsky at the No. 3 pairing.

The Tennessee-Southern Cal winner advances to the quarterfinals on Saturday to play the winner between No. 6 Baylor and No. 11 Texas A&M.
