Tennessee student-athletes post 3.02 GPA in fall

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee student-athletes have exceeded a 3.0 grade point average in consecutive semesters for the first time since the school started recording sport-by-sport data on the subject in 2003.

The school announced Monday that student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA of 3.02 during the 2013 fall semester. This marks the first time since the school started measuring the data in 2003 that Tennessee has exceeded a 3.0 GPA in a fall semester. Tennessee student-athletes had a 3.05 GPA in the 2013 spring semester and 2.97 in the 2012 fall semester.

Tennessee's football team posted a 2.64 GPA, up from 2.49 in the 2012 fall semester and 2.08 in the 2011 fall semester.

Fifty-four percent of student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.0 or above, up from 51 percent in the 2012 fall semester.

Looks as though Butch is getting the attention of his players. Whether they're studying more or have found a way to post better grades, I don't know. Just one more positive for CBJ the way I see it.. ALL VOL....ALL THE TIME

Yep, as long as nobody's cheating, it can only be taken as good news, though with much room left for improvement.
