GVX Audio: Ryan Callahan of govols247.com talks recruiting on Jan. 14, 2014
KNOXVILLE — Tuesday on the News Sentinel Sports Page, host Vince Ferrara and his co-host, News Sentinel columnist Mike Strange, welcomed Ryan Callahan from govols247.com to the show to talk about Tennessee recruiting.
Ferrara asked Callahan to explain the late switch where early enrollee Joe Henderson was taken off the spring roster and Neiko Creamer was added.
"It looked like Henderson was not going to be cleared (by the NCAA) in time to get in to spring classes, so he has to wait until May now," Callahan said. "Things just kind of changed there a little bit unexpectedly, but Neiko Creamer was able to get cleared."
Callahan also weighed in on the 14 new players who have already begun classes this semester and what their early enrollment means for the team.
"(These) are really important guys for this class," Callahan said, explaining the many benefits early enrollees bring to the program. "That's 14 guys already officially on board, no concerns. That allows Tennessee to focus on the 19 other commitments in addition to their other targets."
