KNOXVILLE — Tuesday on the News Sentinel Sports Page, host Vince Ferrara welcomed Ryan Callahan from govols247.com to talk about Tennessee recruiting.

This past weekend, Butch Jones and his coaching staff visited several recruits, and Ferrara asked Callahan to discuss the highlights.

This weekend, Callahan said, wasn't all that busy because schools are closed on the weekends. "But they did save a few in-state visits over the weekend. They visited with Vic Wharton, Rashaan Gaulden and Derek Barnett, the UT commitments" in the Franklin area.

Back in Knoxville, they "met with Gavin Bryant, the lone official visitor, the linebacker from down in Alabama," he said. Then they were back on the road on Sunday to make a couple other visits.

"Joe Henderson had his in-home visit with Butch Jones up in Ohio. Steve Stripling and Mark Elder were also on that in-home visit," Callahan said. "And then Dillon Bates got an in-home visit from Tommy Thigpen and John Jancek Sunday night also."

He went on to say that Butch Jones is continuing to make in-home visits this week, leading up to National Signing Day on Feb. 5.

Gavin Bryant, as Ferrara points out, is one of the recruits who some fear might look elsewhere and end up signing with another team before Signing Day.

But according to Callahan, it looks "pretty solid" that he will maintain his commitment to Tennessee after this weekend's visit.
