Surprisingly candid Coach Martin, who usually nurses his secrets like a June bride...nice to hear...

He lets everyone know wht we know already - that Tennessee is not a top basketball school. Martin can't convince his players that Tennessee should be a top school. Wonder how he sell players on recruiting. Hey come to Tennessee - we are not one of the best basketball schools but we do play laid back and I will not chew you out no matter what. I will not fire you up or get on the officals. We are a laid back team. Come on over and be part of a boring basketball life at Tennessee.

I hate to say so..but..the laid back approach must be mixed with a willingness to do all you can to help your team win games..working the officials does that..pointing out their mistakes results in make up calls..your team needs their coach to stand up and demand you get your share of make up calls.. I have not seen UT get any..on the other hand ..Martin may think most officials would prefer not to have a coach call their hand and show them up for fear they would make it worse..hard to figure..top 25 teams are all prepared to play multiple defenses effectively when the need is apparent..UT is not...I don't think UT will buy out Martin and I think he will be the coach next year..so I'm just hoping the best for the Vols..one game at a time...

Tonight will be more of a "hands" game than a "body" game. Yes, it should help that he will be the biggest, strongest guy on the floor--he usually is, though it hasn't always helped--but merely grabbing a ball may not be enough against the quick Arkansas hands. Snatch it, clear it, and pass it out. Don't put the ball down in close. Power up through the arms. Make FTs. Stay out of foul trouble. Should be another 20pts/10rbs night, which should be his norm going forward.
