Missed shots, scoring droughts and a lack of paint points were the sort of problems Tennessee intended to create Saturday afternoon.

They will not win another game if they play like they did in this game. Simmons continues her historical trend of lousy shooting in tournament games.

Unless Simmons starts hitting like the SEC player of the year should, the LVs will not make it past the Sweet Sixteen.

BTW: If the LVs do not play a zone against the Red Hawks they were not watching the second game today. They hit maybe one three and very few jumpers from more than 5 feet.

Whew, glad we got that out of our system.
Couple of other unrelated thoughts. What is up with those horrible unis? Our colors are white and the center of the American daisy orange. Not, "don't shoot me, I'm a hunter" neon. Just goes to show what you get when you p.o. Adidas.
Do any of you guys in Knoxville know if Jannah Tucker is able to practice yet(knee)? Just wondered if she participated in shoot arounds etc. surprised St. John's won, I thought USC would win. Glad Holly limited minutes. Only one over 30.

I can never be so happy to see a conference player of the year graduate.

Simmons could help her team so much more if she took half the shots and applied herself on defense. I know she doesn't believe that. I'm not sure if she could even consider it.

A win, very ugly. Lucky to be playing a team with heart but no size and limited skills.
Simmons has been a bust in every major game in her career. Major game = Stanford, Baylor, Notre Dame, Louisville, Kentucky, 4 years of SEC and NCAA tournament games.
If she doesn't calm down and focus this team will be home very soon.
I agree on the uniforms, Bama Dave has now dismantled our traditional school colors to fluorescent orange and hideous "loser" gray.
Simmons can rebound and be a star in the future, we are stuck with Bama Dave and his poor leadership.

So if you are the coach do you leave Simmons on the floor and let her get you beat because she is a sr. ..while a better player who is a freshman is on the bench..if Holly does ..I will be highly disappointed..this tournament is about the whole team and the fans..not just about one player who simply can't get it done against better teams..Start Reynolds and let Simmons come in after the game gets settled down..maybe she can too...

My feelings exactly; poor shooting and lackluster defense. I don't want to see anything happen to her, but I hope maybe she wont play for a game or so, but she "plays" every game. If I had numbers like she does, I would take myself out of the game for the good of the team.

Your post was spot on also John Adams article 4/24 of Simmons tournament field goal percentage last two years, 23 of 100.

On the mens side if Barton is not hitting, he sits on the bench, he is not allowed to shoot 4 for 15 or 5 for 18. What coach other than Holly would sees merit?
