Unwanted at Kentucky, Pilgrim looking at Memphis

If it were up to Matt Pilgrim, he'd be preparing to play his first season at the University of Kentucky. But apparently it's not up to Matt Pilgrim, which is why the 6-foot-8 power forward is now considering a transfer to the University of Memphis and hoping the NCAA will allow him to play somewhere immediately next season.

Xavier Henry decides to stay at Kansas, not leave for Kentucky

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After a frantic day that had Kansas fans fretting they might lose a prized recruit, Xavier Henry texted a local radio station late Tuesday night saying he decided to stay with the Jayhawks.

Earlier, the father of Xavier and his brother, C.J. Henry, said there would be a family meeting on Tuesday and that the two might not play at Kansas, after all. Full story »

Alabama files appeal

The University of Alabama has taken the first step toward appealing a ruling by the NCAA that forced the Crimson Tide football program to vacate 21 wins. Five-run sixth inning propels LSU to sixth national title

OMAHA, Neb. — LSU, which two years ago wasn’t good enough to qualify for its conference tournament, is the best team in college baseball again.

Texas freshman too much for LSU

OMAHA, Neb. — One night after his shortest outing of the season, Taylor Jungmann turned in his longest and best.
Now Texas and LSU have a showdown for the national title.
The Longhorns’ freshman All-American limited LSU to five hits in his first complete game, and Russell Moldenhauer hit his record-tying fourth home run of the College World Series as Texas evened the best-of-three finals, 5-1 over LSU on Tuesday night. Full story »

Alabama Football Network founder dies

Bert Bank, a World War II veteran who became a state legislator and founded the Alabama Football Network, has died. Relatives said Bank died Monday night in Tuscaloosa at age 94. He had been admitted to a hospital over the weekend.

LSU single beats Texas homers

OMAHA, Neb. - Mikie Mahtook singled in the winning run in the top of the 11th inning after DJ LeMahieu tied the game in the ninth, and LSU survived Texas' five home runs to beat the Longhorns 7-6 in Game 1 of the College World Series finals Monday night.
