Tennessee fired men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl on Monday, March 21, 2011, after a 6-season stint as head coach of the Vols. The abrupt end to Bruce Pearl's tenure came as a result of an ongoing NCAA investigation that revealed multiple offenses committed after the initial letter of allegations was revealed in Sept., 2010.
Bruce Pearl leaves UT with a record of 145-61 (65-31 in SEC play), making him the winningest coach in the SEC during his time in Knoxville.
Some of the other superlatives Bruce Pearl leaves with include a 20-10 record against Florida, Memphis and Vanderbilt, six consecutive NCAA tournament appearances -- a school first for the men's program -- and achieving the first No. 1 ranking for the Vols in program history.
