Tennessee co-head softball coach Karen Weekly entered the 2011 season with Tennessee having amassed 688 wins and four women's college world series appearances (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010), averaging 52 wins per season since coming to the Lady Vols.
Karen Weekly, along with husband and co-head coach Ralph Weekly, has helped build the Tennessee softball program from a 24-35 season the year before they arrived into being the first SEC school to hit No. 1, the first SEC school to make the college world series, and 35 All-SEC or All-SEC freshman selections.
Karen Weekly's best season at the helm came in 2007, when the Lady Vols finished 63-8, a second-place finish nationally, and were led by player of the year Monica Abbott and fellow all-Americans Lindsay Schutzler, India Chiles and Tonya Callahan.
Prior to coming to Tennessee, Karen Weekly played for future husband and co-head coach Ralph Weekly's team at Pacific Lutheran, and had served on his staff at Chattanooga before rising to become co-head coach there. When Ralph Weekly left Chattanooga briefly for a role with the U.S. national team, Karen Weekly led the Mocs to a 48-18 record in 1999 before going 47-27 in 2000 and earning the school's first NCAA regional berth.
