Mickie DeMoss joined the Tennessee staff of Pat Summitt in 1985, serving as an assistant from then until 2003. Mickie DeMoss left Tennessee to take over as Kentucky's head coach in 2003, and also served a stint as an assistant at Texas before returning to the Lady Vols in 2010.
A native of Tallulah, Louisiana, Mickie DeMoss played for Louisiana Tech before entering the coaching ranks. Mickie DeMoss began coaching as an assistant at Memphis State before becoming head coach at Florida until 1983. Mickie DeMoss then spent two years as an assistant at Auburn before coming to Tennessee.
While head coach at Kentucky, Mickie DeMoss led UK to its first back-to-back 20-win seasons in 16 years, was named the SEC coach of the year in 2005-06, and led Kentucky to its first win over a No.1 program, oddly enough over Tennessee.
