The Vol vent

Have I become completely neive by thinking something needs to be done about the state of Volsfootball. Every sunday we get to watch excuses being made about why our football team drifts into obscurity, to be known as underachievers, why must we settle into mediocracy? The facts are the facts Change is needed now. Why not change now before the program drops to the bottom of the league? I implore everyone to stop the rape of our beloved team so they may try once again to get the national attention they covet. Rally the troops and insist change must be made to insure the sancity of the Vols who have played before them.

"To defeat a weak opponent is not the problem. The problem is to win when he is as good or better than you."

Refering to the head coach " His first principle must be to calculate what he must do to win, and see if he has the necessary means to surmount the obstacles with which the enemy will oppose him. Once the decision is made, see that all do their respective parts to earn the victory."

These words which are quoted from the book "Neyland the Gridiron General" are the essence of what Tennessee football has been about for generations.

In evaluating the play in the UCLA and Florida games the game plans were adequate at best, the execution of the plans were poor, and if we intentionally kicked to Brandon James that strategy was completely flawed.

So by Neyland's standards we fell flat on all counts.

Unless we see a vast turnaround against Auburn its time for a housecleaning .
