Not even close here. Hardesty is earning his paycheck in the NFL this year. He could be really special at the next level.
TSNSD4UT writes:
Big Tario is the MVP hands down if for no other reason than showing the rest of the team how to compete at a high level hurting or healthy.
amstelman writes:
EB is a star but MH is the difference maker. Simply more opportunities.
Wii60 writes:
Hardesty is tempting to the casual observer, but Eric Berry's new role this year makes offenses simply have to avoid whatever 15 yard radius surrounds him. He doesn't get the big time picks or the highlight reel tackles anymore, but his presence changes the game. How often do you see receivers simply drop the ball because they know a safety is coming? We saw that Saturday.
blitzshoot writes:
Cannot imagine why he did not get more opportunities last year. Hardesty is amazing.
AllVol2008#1353998 writes:
Hardesty. Not even f'ing close.
Fryinpansvols writes:
Hardesty is the MVP. Hardesty has been climbing the ladder as one of my favorite UT players and backs of all time. I love the way this goes hard every play. He never goes half speed!
blitzshoot writes:
Put it like this....take one of these players off the team for the rest of the season and which has the most detrimental impact to the team?
chiefofstaff writes:
Yeah, I hear ya, but the safety "Traitor" Brown got smacked in the mouth by was J. Jackson. #15 has the makings of being our next great strong safety!!!
OrangeBlur writes:
#2 on the field and #1 in your heart. Countryham a close second though.
armyvol22 writes:
This is a hard one to make. The whole defense should be on the list, because without them Tennessee would not be where they are at right now. But Hardesty is the man on the offensive side.
TennesseeGorilla writes:
Crompton is the MVP, we only win when he doesn't play like garbage.
lootbal_love writes:
Had to vote for Rico too,He's one baddazz LB playing dude, most under-rated.
Love Montario, best dang runner in the NCAA FB! I knew he was awesome, while we had to endure AF.
Love Berry,He's "The Anointed One",truely blessed and everyone knows it.
Love Rogan,Love D.Will, Love G.Will,#40,Love Cooper,Love Jensen,Love Art sometimes,Love those Vols!

eric berry needs to get some interceptions! im goin with hardesty
mbible1utk#324980 writes:
there's a good case for Montario Hardesty and Eric Berry, but I would actually have to say Chris Walker is my choice. He may not have the attention that Hardesty and Berry are getting, but Walker is really doing a great job at DE. He's fairly consistent at getting pressure, he's had a bunch of sacks, he has two interceptions.... I think Walker has made more key plays in big situations than any of the other people on this list.
bluetick writes:
Nobody can blame Berry for being in the linbacker spot most of the time, and what he is doing there isn't seen for the most part. Leading tackler on the field, but if he were in the safety position he would have made more big hits and surely some interceptions as well. He is the best player on the team without a doubt, that is why he will be in the top 5 in the NFL Draft. Give credit to Hardesty for his drive, but what would he have been like if the competition wasn't opened during spring? Also a RB is only as good as the O-Line and it is obvious this year we have a great O-Line.
Both are GREAT players and I'm glad they are on the team in Orange and White.

If Crompton doesn't win another game in his career at UT, he deserves it for simply enduring his struggles and never giving up. He is a true example of what it means to be a Volunteer!
HOMEBOY writes:
I didn't know the Crompton family new how to use the computer.

The Hardesty motor on the Lane Trane is boasting power. The Crompton rims seem to be a sparkeling very well down the tracks!!!Just runn'n over sum Dawgs....
JV67 writes:
Berry's a machine, but everyone's going away from him and trying to keep him out of games. Hardesty looks like a back that's going to start on Sundays. Without him, UGA doesn't fear the play action that allowed Crompton to go off and we're not even close to being in the Florida game.
jt1369w writes:
The offense has not been on the field enough for an offensive player to be MVP. Berry Hands down.
brokebackvol writes:
Hands down, it's Hardesty. He's the Vols "ironman"
PS: So proud of Crompton - may he keep playing well and the receivers too - was beautiful to see all those completions and touchdowns!
Fossilfiction writes:
if you spin what mvp means then yes. Crompton's performance is valuable and probably the most. However with that being said mvp means who has done the most to help the team. I voted #2! #14 is a close second. Hardesty carried this teams offense up to this point. Berry has a lot of help on defense, Hardesty is starting to get help. I have to vote for the man who produces great numbers when teams were putting 8 or 9 guys in the box. The good news is that a next year we will be debating who is mvp... Brown or Jackson! Looking forward to the new era in Tennessee football:)
Fossilfiction writes:
When we start playing pass happy teams he will get more picks. While we are playing running teams he will get more tackles. I like that we are using him more. Fulmer gave players one position and that was it. We are one of the few teams(if any other teams) with a dual threat position player. This year makes him so much more valuable to the NFL. Watch and see. High first round and he will get the record soon enough. I think Bama will try to pass more than we are used to seeing.

HOMEBOY - If you can spell, your argument will have much more validation. Get behind JC for having an outstanding game. The kid played his best game as a QB for the Orange.
MH is the man. EB is the man making people scared. You can throw away from EB. You can try to stop MH. Both will make plays. EB has a supporting cast. MH his been Atlas until Saturday. Weight of the world and all. JC and the coaching staff realized this and lessened the load.
MH for MVP... no question. The kid has willed himself to a top 10 rushing ranking. Not much help early. The danger that is MH gave JC the opening to play action.
MH may not have gotten the 100 yds.. but he scared the UGA defense enough to get JC the openings he needed.
Gotta give the O Line a lot of credit for coming back strong.
All in all, all of the kids on this team deserve credit for buying in to a new system and persevering.
GREAT WIN VOLS! oh, how I have missed thee..
eutefan writes:
Hardesty, of course.
Chris Walker has twice as many interceptions this year as does Berry. The safety is a presence, of course, but opposing teams can play away from him and get away with it.
You can't play away from Hardesty. Defenses have to plan for him.
Brillovol writes:
I went with Hardesty based strongly on the Florida game.
Having said that, the most important player on the team IS Jon Crompton. We go as he goes. We win if he plays well, period.
OrangeCrush writes:
It has to be Montario "The Hammer" Hardesty. Did you see him drag four GA defenders on his back while he was still picking up yards?
Love to see him play on Sunday's.
537081 writes:
hardesty is a man amoung men. I take nothing away from him. We would't be were we are without him. Erick Berry changes the whole game when he steps on the field. He is always around the ball to make a big play. Thats why he is my mvp.

No his last 3 games have. 8 TD's and 2 int. Actually he is the hottest qb in the SEC right now. If you want bash someone when he is down you better be able to give credit when it is due. GO VOLS!
volgrog#210164 writes:
I'd have to say Hardesty at this point, but we haven't seen our defense without Berry. My guess is that if Berry wasn't there (God forbid), we'd see what the impact would be in a big way.
06143831 writes:
we probably won't see him play on sunday's. from what I understand, he knee problem is a constant struggle and can't be fixed completely. sad to see though, he would be one hell of a running back in the NFL.
Jamey1210 writes:
1st Off I did not vote for Crompton I voted for Hardesty. 2nd All the Crompton haters seem like they would rather him fail and we loose just so they don't have to eat crow. Pitiful!
KyVolsfan1 writes:
I can't believe how many voted for Crompton. One game is not a season. I bet the ones that voted for him this week are the same ones that wanted Nick Stevens to replace him last week. Sometimes such a short memory ain't good.
KyVolsfan1 writes:
P.S. My vote went to Mccoy. Could have been the entire defense.
AlWilsonFan writes:
Eric Berry is awesome, our defense is aweseome. But it has to be Hardesty to this point. MVP, most valuable player, the place we really really needed a spark is offense, and Hardesty lays that **** on the line every play. So may plays this year he has turned a 2-yard play into 4 or a 4-yard play into 9 or a 9-yard play into a TD, he's the engine that is making the offense go, which is what we needed the most.
