I've already heard that Fulmer will replace Hamilton as AD, & that Fulmer is hiring Randy Sanders as HC.

Muschamp or dont come home Hamilton. Muschamp and this all goes away.

Peterson out of that list. Painful as it is to say it but I would concede this recruiting class (and next few seasons) for the RIGHT hire this go around. Impossible to get the best hire at this point and time, unless its one of the NFL guys.

Fulmer for AD. Cutcliff as HC. This kind of screw-up cannot go unpunished.

tnvolsdj#293880 writes:

funny after years of being a UT supporter my negative comments wont be "acctepted". Say what you will, but at least coach fulmer cared about the program and the student atheltes more than his own career. That has more integrity than some coach looking to further his career. Face the facts folks, we got what we deserved by demanding the resignation of Fulmer. I think we will be a joke for SEC football for the rest of my life. I am embarassed

I'd like to see Jon Gruden on the list as well...

I thought Muschamp has already been told he'll succeed Mack Brown? If so, why in the world would we want to put ourselves right back in the same situation we had with Kiffin? You get a guy for 1, 2 or 3 years, only to lose him to the school he really wants to be at.

I'd much rather see them bring Cut back.

Muschamp was my choice last year. Hopefully we land him soon. Peterson would be nice. Really missing Phil now =( man of class, honesty, and integrity.

paulvol writes:

Chris Peterson is the best option out there in my opinion. He is an excellent recruiter and knows how to win the big games with whatever trickery is necessary. He has had several recent undefeated seasons and has beaten the likes of Oklahoma in a 2007 BCS bowl game and previously undefeated TCU this year in another BCS bowl game. I don't know what his win loss record is but I have never seen his team lose and I have watched many of their games. They are just so fun to watch because you never know what Chris will pull out of his hat. The SEC is a lot stronger conference than he is use to but he has proved time and time again that he can beat the big conference teams when he has the chance.
I say lets give him a call first. Its probably too late but worth a try.

Please do not hire Muschamp. I want somebody that will stay for a long time. Muschamp will just be the next Kiffin.

VolWoman writes:

I think it is spelled Chris Petersen?? He seems happy at Boise State and not likely to move but I'd love to have him.

BubbaTN writes:

Peyton Manning. What more does he want to accomplish in the NFL? Especially if the Colts loose their first playoff game. We know he wasn't happy with the Colt's organization after the loss to the Jets.

We need someone who will "lift up" the program not abuse it.

You are a complete idiot to want a traitor back as a head coach. Fire Hamilton and bring back Fulmer as AD.

richvol writes:

I still want a young energetic coach that is willing to put in the effort to fight the recruiting wars against Saban and Meyer. I do not want to go back to the days of Phil and Cutcliff.

Kiffin betrayed us but let's not lose our minds and turn back to the the coaches that got us into this mediocrity. There are several good young coaches out there that would jump at the chance to come to Tennessee...we just got the wrong one.

I would never support Fulmer for AD...he couldn't keep his own responsibilities up. How in the hell do you expect him to run an entire athletic program? A very poor choice.

randyarnold writes:

Actually, I'm for Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern. Two winning seasons in a row taking over a difficult situation (death of a coach) and turning a strong academic school (that's redundant) into a competitive program.

Exiled writes:

I like Tom O'Brian at NC State. He hasn't done much yet, but he is a class act: disciplined and he seems to have his priorites in line. I would rather loose and have a classy program than win with thugs. Fulmer was loosing with thugs.

Nah, go with Leach. Let's throw that thing!

rusty_shackleford writes:

The days of 15 year tenures are all but over. However, the fan base, the facilities, the conference all say UT is a great job and a place where someone can build something special.

Agreed. He loves Boise so I don't see it happening. The one knock people make is he can't recruit nationally. Wrong. He started by invading California, and in the last couple of years has recruited successfully in Texas and Florida. And he and his staff coach the kids up!

I can't belive that there is any true Vol fan that wants to see Fat Phil be our Coach;I'd rather see Johnny Majors drinking whisket and running over fans in his golf cart while screaming about his underpaid contract problem than see Fat Phil even set foot on the campus! It's make or break day for Hamilton and if he don't hit one out of the park, they need to fire his sorry arse!

I have no problem with Fulmer as AD. Now that we have been smacked in the face, maybe the higher ups will come to their senses and find a better quality person to fill the role of head coach. Al Davis may be out there but you do not attain the levels he has reached by accident. He tried to tell us.

rickytopvol writes:

Goes away for how long , a year or too? What makes everybody think Muschamp is just automatically going to be a great head coach? He maybe great or then again maybe not. Kind of like Kiffin you just don't know. Let hire someone how has a track record of winning as a head coach and can recuit.

Madkels writes:

If Hammy wants to keep his job, he better convince Chris Petersen to come east. This guy has gone about making little ole Boise State a national power. We know he can coach because 5 star players are not lining up to go to Idaho. Oh sorry, I didn't know there was a state with the same name as our ex-coach.

Any thoughts on Jeremy Bates? Small time name but big time respect amongst the Carrolls, Shannahans, of the coaching world. I don't know much about his time at UT other than him being backup QB . . not sure why he transferred to Rice or if he has bad blood with the program. He seems an up and comer though who is on his way to Seatle with Carroll after declining the bears OC position (Cutler wanted him brought in). We can (and probably will) do worse.

Jeez, people, screw on your heads. Peyton Manning is not going to give up $15 million a year in his prime as the greatest NFL quarterback ever to coach at Tennessee. And we aren't going to rehire Fulmer. We need a smart, young hungry coach like Muschamp, who couldn't be happy about Mack Brown's new contract.

Calm down and let the dollars talk.
