I agree 100%.

What if the SEC were to add Texas and Florida State. That would be awesome. They might as well give the national championship trophy to the winner of the SEC

Big 10s and Pac10s actions will dictate what we do. i've listened to many different radio opinion's on this. appraerently all about loot and competition is only an afterthought. sounds like Texas is the gem every conference is looking at. and yah, Texas AM is a package deal with TX that is unbreakable. the 2 would be sweet. We would need 2 more from the East then. VT would ditch ACC in a second to join, but that is the wrong Virginia TV market. Florida St would be ideal without saying anymore and George Tech would round out the Georiga and ATL TV market. All 4 would be great from a loot, TV, and recruiting perspective. I personnaly like VT over GT, but I could give a hoot if TX and TXAM would join up. The other two could be FIU and South Florida and it wouldn't even matter with adding the TX market... Even if no expansion happens, SEC will still dominate the other potential "super conferences" that might emerge after the smoke clears...

I would personally bring back GT and possibly Clemson. But USC and GA fans would never go for it. I say swap USC for Clemson, and drop Vandy for MTSU or even Southern Miss. But that would be too many Mississippi teams. Adding Texas would be nice, but too far west, and UF would NEVER want FSU in our division. That would be a gauntlet to survive. I say see what the Big "11" does and go from there. Expansion is bound to happen, and hopefully the BCS will crumble.

It is all about t.v. footprint all the talk about FSU, GT, etc from the ACC doesn't add any reall value. The only options for us really are
Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and OK State. We already have Atlanta and Florida. Trust me SC and Arkansas aren't going anywhere without at least some conference ponying up the money they get currently from the SEC. All these basketball schools don't add a dime so forget them to, sorry Louisville and Memphis. So the breakup of the Big XII is probably they way we look for expansion. We may have to look into our own SEC Network, but we add the Texas market it further opens up Texas for recruiting.

boot vandy and add Va. Tech

ADD 4 TEAMS...DIVIDE IN TO FOUR DIVISIONS...HAVE TWO PLAYOFF WEEKENDS... AND, LET THE BCS DECIDE THE TOP DIRTY DOZEN OR SWEET SIXTEEN FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF SYSTEM

Georgia Tech and Clemson or Florida State in East, TX and TX A&M in West.

OwensboroVol writes:

Georgia Tech left the Conference on their own and should NEVER be invited back. They decided that they were better off without the SEC. Same with Tulane. There are other Schools out there who have been ready to make that jump to the Caliber of play the SEC demands. Those teams and those teams only should be considered. Texas and AM don't bring anything we don't already have. If the SEC expands an additional 2 teams they should be from within the region. I also think its time to hire a professional as the SEC Commissioner. Mike Slive is a disgrace to the conference and his habit of supporting 1 or 2 teams each year is getting on everyone nerves.(Except Florida and Alabama) Don't get me wrong, Florida and Alabama didn't ask for his assistance and I am sure don't want strange officiating to win games for them. Whether We like them or not they are class outfits, just like all SEC members, who live to compete.

What would I like to see?? Well, I'd like someone with a REALLY large saw to detach the entire state of Florida from the rest of the U.S. and let it float away into the Bermuda Triangle, never to be seen or heard from again. :)

Good thought, but I don't think UNC will ever leave the ACC for basketball reasons. They might however if the Dukies came with them.

Over the past 4 years it has apparently been easier to win the NC playing an SEC schedule than any other.

TEXAS GUYS SHOULD BE THE BIG TARGET FOR EXPANSION IN THE SEC. THE LONGHORNS, AGGIES, OKLaHOMA AND PERHAPS GA. TECH...COULD HALT THE HUMAN ANTI-SOUTH VOTES THAT HAVE ALWAYS PREVAILED. THE HORNS WITH THEIR VAST TV MARKET IN A FOOTBALL-CRAZED STATE...HAVE CLOSE TO AS MANY TV SETS AS THE SEC COMBINED...THIS IS WHY THE SEC WOULD BE SO ATTRACTIVE TO NATIONAL TV BIGSHOTS AND NATIONAL MEDIA>>>LET'S NAB TEXAS BEFORE THE BIG TEN ....WE CAN CALL OUR 16-TEAM CONFERENCE THE "THE BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE", IF WE COULD LINE UP THE TEAMS AS MENTIONED ABOVE.

Dump Vandy......add Virginia Tech. Maybe add Miami and Florida State too.

That's what we are doing now. 4 in a row.

Realistically we aint gonna get texas or oklahoma, thats the bread n butter of the big 12 and all these "experts" are foolish to believe the big 12 wouldnt hand those teams the world to keep them. They will NEVER leave the big 12, you may get nebraska or any other big 12 teams but those 2 aren't goin anywhere, too little to gain and too much to lose.
Realistically we could add Florida State, Miami, GT, and North Carolina. Regionally they all are perfect fits and all have solid current programs that would be improved just by being able to say they are part of the sec.

blazeglory07 writes:

Dump ARK. and LSU, any team west of the mississippi river should not be in the SEC.If they want to add somemore teams, then make sure they get the right location southeast.

ChismsHeadband writes:

It's all based on pure speculation... Will the Pac-10 add more teams? Big 10 talk about adding Mizzou, but then the Big XII would be missing a team, creating a domino effect. Personally, I'd like to keep it the same, but here are a few ideas that I find interesting...

Adding Louisville to the west and GA Tech to the east...
Or just letting Arkansas go to the Big XII and replacing them with Louisville...
Maybe switching USC for Clemson...

Really, I'd like for conferences to max out at 12 teams... Any more, and I'd really want to add like two more games to the football season. I don't get this whole 14-team superconference thing... It's just a money grab.

Add 4 People, what are you thinking!

Louisianna Monroe, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, and UAB. That would Help Tennessee to stay in the competition for second place in the East yearly!

GA tech will never be allowed nor will their allums allow their school to even be associated with the SEC. to all those suggesting Texas and GA tech. your stupid... GA tech for reasons above and Texas because their only gripe about Big 12 is academics which the SEC doesn't improve. Plus Texas would make two UT's in one conference is way too far west, and would try to make the SEC bend to meet them. The SEC will not bend to another team.. EVER
Honestly drop two, ARk or MSU and Vandy or UK. USC is better. Open up the schedules and allow for better OCG's. Cut the fat and add some meat

I agree 1,000,000%. They brought this guy in from a small conference and he has no idea on how to run a conference with the type of competition the SEC has. The actions he took last year in the Florida/Arkansas game were at best amateur, at worse outright cheating in favor of the Gators. Arkansas had Florida beaten in the swamp and the Officials with the absolutely worse call I've ever seen in my 60 some odd years STOLE it from the Arkansas kids. It was as blatant as it can get and Slive backed the officials. Only after a firestorm did he suspend the officials for one week. Some of my friends said, and some of you will probably say, so what, it was Arkansas and it didn't affect us any. To that I say, when the Officials know that no real punishment will be given for conduct such as that, you are sure to see it again and next time it could be against Tennessee. Slive is poison for this conference and its just a matter of time until everyone knows it. Unfortunately, it will be too late then and it will take the SEC no telling how many years to rebuild from the Slive blunder. If he isn't gone in the next year or two, the damage he does maybe unrepairable.

GET RID OF CALLING IT THE SEC...AND MAKE IT "BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE...AFTER ALL TEXAS IS ONLY A SHORT DRIVE TO BATON ROUGE. IN ADDTION TEXAS IS A SOUTHERN STATE ANYWAY.

Everybody's got an opinion on this one. As for me, I am hoping the Big 10 just adds Notre Dame and goes to 2 Divisions. The PAC 10 can add 2 and the world can go back to normal. I have alot of SEC pride and I would like to keep it like it is. I would hate to lose any historical rivalries and I would NEVER boot ANY of our 12 schools from the conference.

That said, if the Big 10 went to a 16 Team 4 Division Superconference, there is some appeal there and we have to keep up and add 4. I would caution against only adding powerhouses as we still need balance. But, we HAVE to add Texas and Texas AM. That would be good for our conference in the Texas market and reunite their old rivalries with Arkansas. In the East, I say GA Tech or Clemson and 1 Florida team. I just don't see Miami or FSU coming, but I would take them. South Florida may be a good pickup. SEC West (UTx, TxAM, Ark, Ole Miss), SEC North (Vandy, Ky, UT, Ala), SEC East (UF, USC, Ga Tech, USF), and SEC Central (Auburn, GA, LSU, MSU). Got to mix them up for balance.

And remember, if the Big 10 adds 4, 2 of them could be Big East Teams. The SEC would certainly come after some ACC teams, so that could leave the ACC and Big East putting together a Basketball Superconference.

Either way, if the Big 10 has a 4 Team expansion, it will cause a HUGE domino effect and we need to be ready. I don't prefer that, but a Final 4 in the SEC would be very exciting and allow for 25% of the Conference to be in the postseason. But, it does make an Undefeated SEC Season even more difficult.

Add MTSU. They own some of the SEC teams.
