Looks like coach Dooley is a bit more than just an OK coach from LA. Tech. I'd say he can recruit some, and I'd say his kids will not be Priam donas or end up in trouble. I'd say next season will be a break out season.

I'm definitely stoked about this week's recruiting, but just remember guys were calling for Dooley's head three weeks ago. Im still waiting and seeing

So far so good. If everyone they have committed now signs it'll be a pretty good haul, but I'd like to see them really load up on the defensive front seven.

I'm not one to get too caught up in the number of stars beside a kids name...but it is nice to see a couple of 4 star commitments. Keep them coming Coach Dooley!

I think it's too early to tell! Things can change between now and signing day! But, this week is very positive! Go get 'em recruiters!

Depth, baby, Depth!

As it stands now, I could see us ranging from 5-7 to 8-4 next season, with the three swing games being Georgia, at Kentucky (better chances if Cobb leaves), and at Arkansas (if Mallett leaves). We should win all of our OOC games, but it's plausible that we could go 1-7 in the SEC.... I think we'll be a better team next year, but the in-conference schedule gets tougher in large part. South Carolina should get better, Florida should get better, Georgia could go either way. As for the west, I think Bama semi-struggles, Auburn and LSU will be every bit as tough.

We are definitely on the up-swing! I am warming up to Dooley and crew more each day! Dooley had a lot to prove at first, and he has not let us down! Let's rally and close the season on a high note and carry that momentum into 2011!

Verbal commitments mean nothing anymore. Until these guys sign the dotted line; they will have alot of people stearing them in other directions. It is way too early to be talking about the strength of this class. Not worth discussing until February.

what means more to me than the number of stars by their name is how many big schools have offers on a guy... who did we beat out to get them? If I see the Georgia's, Florida's, Alabama's, LSU's, Ohio State's, and USC's on the list of schools that put offers out for a guy.. then you know he has to be pretty good.

"Guys who were calling for Dooley's head" have disqualified themselves from legitimate opinions...I mean, let's be real here.....

I am happy about more than just recruiting. I really am enjoying the progress I see each week. I'm not waiting for the future to feel good about Coach Dooley and UT football. I feel good about them now. We need to stay focused on these last 2 games. Vandy always plays over their head when it's Tennessee. The offense is showing great versatility and we need to keep laying on the points against Vandy and Kentucky.

Hear hear! Let's hear it for high notes that close the season.

Number 21 national (rivals.com) and 8th in the sec is not going to cut it but, I withhold judgment until signing day.

I agree...let's wait and see. This whole Aub investigation could free up some recruits. Verbals don't mean alot. Let's see who the early enrolees are in jan and that can give us a better idea. We still need another big time linebacker and lineman.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying that we need to get Richardson? That guy is prep or JUCO bound, seems to me he has no chance to quailfy, especially if you have to tranfer to an "easier" highschool to pass.
By the way he will not have played ball in almost a year if he even makes it to campus.

something i don't get. i've read that boise state has had one 4 star recruit in the last six classes, and that oregon's classes weren't that much better. so, what gives? seemed like every february, phil was reeling in top ten classes. is there a black hole somewhere in knoxville? i'd sure like to have this explained.
mercyseat writes:
here's my question..... if 4 and 5 star recruits dont mean anything, then why does Florida,Alabama, Auburn,LSU and Georgia all have twice as many as we have?
murrayvol writes:
Proof that CDD can recruit came last year with Hunter and this year with Arnett. You can recruit players out of Michigan but it's hard to get the "best" players out of Michigan. Rich Rod loves guys like him.

Need to sign 30 or so. We always seem to lose about 4 to the NCAA clearing house. Sign 30 the next couple of years and we'll start catching up to the 85 allowed.

Hey I want to see what coach Wilcox and Chuck Smith bring in. Wilcox probly didn't have a bunch of 4 and 5 star guys at Bosie St and his defence did ok. Good enough that UT was glad to get him.
