Nashville or Memphis? That is a no brainer...

It's more a matter of who rather than where.

I don't know...in Memphis you have to worry about arming your claymores, wrapping your car in razor wire, and making sure you BZO'd your small arms before you head into the stadium. In Nashville, at least you can have some fun without the extra worries of getting mugged, or worse. Hence, my vote for the Music City bowl;)

I have season tickets to the Titans games so you know my pick.
Yet last time i was in Memphis was Feb 23rd 2007 i believe and it was for basketball and that game was the best sporting event i have ever been to (#2 tennessee defeating #1 Memphis). I never felt safe in Memphis though.
GO VOLS!

Woops just looked at my ticket i still have. It was '08.

I've been to the Liberty Bowl to watch TN before. We've never been to the Music City Bowl. We played Wyoming there (and won), but that was regular season. I vote Nashville. Nice town.
volzcrushm writes:
Nashville for the fans... but, Memphis for the recruiting. Hmmmmm.... I vote Memphis.
VOLinATL writes:
I live in Atlanta, so visting Memphis is just like going downtown here, so no big deal.
jawbreaker writes:
I live 15 miles from LP Field, and I lived in Memphis for three years. So, no contest, Music City Bowl.
sol_way writes:
a little off topic, the big east should not get an automatic B C S birth for there champion

I vote the second best place to tailgate in Tennessee. LP Field

Sell Memphis to Mississippi and move Graceland to Sevier County.

Let's see.....2 1/2 hour drive or 5 1/2 hour drive? Feel perfectly safe or never feel safe? Mmmmm......I think Nashville for me. Who we play is to me immaterial. We are going to get an extra 5 weeks of practice and some good exposure. Whoever it is, I think we will be real competitive. GO VOLS!
Mommasboy writes:
I saw the latest SEC power rankings and there are 10 SEC teams bowl elligible! The vols were ranked 9th out of 12 teams. I wonder what happens if Aub loses to SC. Would TCU play Oregon in the title game?
.....

Having served 21 years, 11 months, and 3 days in Memphis, I would have to say --- NASHVILLE.
Not to mention that Vols get to play an ACC opponent in Nashville instead of some Conference USA outfit.
orange_n_peoria writes:
i agree 100%

Both states (TN & MS) would improve in every way imaginable.

Memphis would make me BLUE,
While Music City would be music to my ears!!!
Let's go bowling, Let's go bowling, Let's go bowling...GBO!!

There to many teams getting bowl game any more. It about time the public find out who all decide what bowl is in the bcs and how much they get for it. Not what the schools get out it.
It time for play off system for the top 20 teams.
get rid of the BCS phooey.
Make it real play off system.
There to many teams with 50% record getting bowl games. It bad when team with 50% record get bowl bid.

Just win, Baby...

Since I am coming home from Afghanistan on the 19th, and bought tickets to the Music City Bowl thinking that it would be UT vs. ACC...let's go to Nashville!
Colliervol writes:
Recruiting in Memphis is not that big a deal. Trust me, it won't make or break us even in the best talent years down here. We'll get our share no matter if we play in Memphis or not. One reason why I see no reason to play Memphis down here. Not worth the trouble for the chance to recruit one or two kids a year.
brauhuff#295403 writes:
I actually would vote for the Birmingham Bowl on January 8, 2011 probably against Pittsburgh or Syracuse as that is a very winable game where probably Maryland in the Music City Bowl or Georgia Tech could be tougher. I believe Memphis wants Georgia vs UCF for there bowl anyway
volcrazy333 writes:
i live in Memphis... ha so itd be nice not to have to drive three hours, but im goin to either one...
NEXT YEAR I VOTE THE LOUISIANA SUPERDOME
Vol_Doc writes:
GT vs UT in the Music City Bowl. Organizers would be stupid to pick otherwise. Fan turnout would be phenomenal!
TennVol01 writes:
Nashville, being in the middle of the state, allows fans from everywhere to attend. Plus Nashville has great hotels and hospitality.
utfutbolfan writes:
Don't forget we've all ready played in both cities this season. I'd rather play in the Papa John's Bowl in Birmingham. That game is on a Sat. Jan 8th at 12 PM. Which means I could go to the game without taking off from work plus I could drive down and drive back. But hey, that's just me. If we have a choice between only Nashville and Memphis ya gotta go to Nashville.

Nice analogy;;Atlanta bums have added a new twist..They actually offer directions but expect money for services rendered.. Many times I almost got in a fist fight outside the Hyatt because I told an Atlanta panhandler where to stick it

WE don't want 'em! WE got enough problems with Jackson!
licknpromise777#651578 writes:
I guess Nashville is the better choice but neither do much for recruiting..It's more about the opponent.Maryland and Tech have been mentioned..The best match up would be UCF possible Conf USA champ who is making noise in FLA and would make for a great game..
mdvol writes:
Nashville. Better chance of running into Carrie Underwood.
DenverVol writes:
Thank you for your service. I'll be seeing you in Nashville.
ACWLY writes:
Nashville...shorter drive plus its a somewhat safer place to stay
tdvol1989 writes:
Finally, someone that remembers. I know we have some different coaches and players, but the last 3 I remember playing against the ACC were embarassing (Va Tech, Clemons - I know it's Clemson but old habits die hard, and Maryland). I certainly don't look forward to playing the freakin' GaTech wishbone with Nesbitt potentially back.
I know everyone is on this high (me included), but we need to win this bowl game. We cannot afford a serving of humble pie.
I think this is the most important recruiting class Dooley will have. This will be the class that supplies the Juniors to go with the talented skill position freshmen this year for 2013. It needs to provide depth at our positions of need. So we must have momentum to sell since Dooley did not really have the luxury of recruiting these guys but 1 recruiting cycle.
Ride the wave and keep momentum through signing day.

Since I live 25 minutes north of Nashville I vote Music City Bowl! Also, if UT gets the invite to Nashville it will sell out fast. I think the Liberty Bowl will still have tickets available near game time. And if I'm not mistaking the Music City Bowl pays more money. But regardless, we're going Bowling! GBO and win your Bowl game!
absgovols writes:
First, I am glad we are bowling. Second, there is not a Stockyard in Memphis. Third, there are Ruth's Chris' in both cities. Fourth, I have been to Graceland and no one needs to go twice. Fifth, I have seen the "duck-walk" and no one needs to see it twice. Sixth, Nashville has Jack's Bar-b-que, which covers the need for barbecue. Seventh, the Music City Bowl is not on New Year's Eve; so, as Leonard Postoastie would say, "In a close one, it's the Music City Bowl."

Honky-tonkin' or the Blues? They already know me in several of the 'tonks on Broadway, so sounds like it's time for some Nash-Vegas to me. Looking forward to seeing if I can get to all my favorite downtown eateries in a three-night trip. Haven't done it yet, but it won't stop us from trying!

At the beginning of the season, I told everyone that we would be 6-6 and going to the Music City Bowl to play Georgia Tech. Easy vote. Didn't put money on it though, maybe should have.

I noticed the same thing....tough sledding for the Titans for a while. At least our Vols have an identity.
Chris Johnson 5 yrd rushing against the WORST Defense in the NFL, ok maybe not worst but certainly bottom tier.
