Get Bray some experience, he's gonna be the real deal!

Sho 'nuff, Bray's Jr. year is going to be a good one.

Witch Doctor say why have answer "Other" when there is no other. Witch Doctor say the redbull wore off quick tonight. lol.
Bones never lie.
Pullingguard writes:
2010 is history or almost so... Give Bray the
experience for next 4 games, for in 2011 Simms will not be the answer, only in backup role.. Got to get everyone ready for next year and youth should be playing and getting the experience... Simms has taken a beating for Vols and been a gamer, but the future is not his.

Witchie!
Glad to see you back! :)

Wow, Sims must have a lot of friends and family to already have 44 votes.
dyerbey#281598 writes:
Not all the blame belongs to Matt. I'm sure he would do a lot better if the Offensive Line protected him a little better. He's obviously a tough kid. That being said, this season is pretty much a foregone conclusion, we need to build on next seasaon and the foundation is Bray. Give the ball to Bray and lets win the next 4 games. GBO
new_era_vol writes:
I truely hate to see simms take a backup role because he has no doubt been a trooper, gut I think Bray is the future. Put the young man in the game as have, and let him lead his team. I think the last games can be a positive if Bray gets the start and the confidence, Go VOLS!!!!
wmaatl writes:
Sorry Matt. You just hold the ball too long.
al2476 writes:
Simms does not step up in the pocket and avoid the rush. The offensive line is giving him plenty of time to throw the ball. He is slow to make decisions and his release is to slow. Bray is like Peyton, he has a guick release. Bray is the future. Go Vols !!
OwensboroVol writes:
I think that Matt is just trying too hard. He has taken so many hits that his internal clock has reset and he is holding the ball hoping someone will come open. But like everyone else I too feel like Bray is the future. This season is over and we should be using the remaining games getting people ready for next year.
Down_The_Field writes:
simms may be better, but the future is in 3-4 years, not 1 year which is all simms has left. get bray the experience now for the games he will help us win as a junior and senior.
billiebob writes:
i wish we could have this poll on News Sentinel staffers we dont't like. I am just kidding but really putting two young men on this poll. please get a grip. Its just football.
codybain13 writes:
he holds onto the ball too long because our o-line cant give him any time to get rid of it. it just looks like he holds onto it too long. i'm for simms,
Maverickman writes:
Bray. Better arm.
gohawks1 writes:
Bray definitely has the arm, but he doesn't seem to have command of the field yet. When he comes out of the huddle he looks unsure and intimidated... deer in the headlights.
OrangePride writes:
First, I'm tired of hearing how this kid isn't strong enough or tough enough to stand up to the pressure. Baloney! He moves around better and has better vision...decision making? not yet, Simms still a little better there. Second. Two pieces of advice for Matt Simms. 1. Knock of the stupid tweeting and sounding off with the press as it doesn't help you or your game or the team! 2. Learn a faster release and quicker read if you want to hold onto your job.
shoelessvol#236864 writes:
Given our current situation, it's time to go on and start Bray. The next four games are very winnable as long as we play as hard as we did yesterday...AND limit the mistakes and penalties. Might as well get Bray some wins under his belt and get ready for next year on a positive note.
txsvol#372416 writes:
If Phil is Secretariat as a QB, he, like the horse, has been able only to sire a couple of pluggers. Serviceable quarterbacks, but able to win only with their supporting cast being better than the opposition. Start Tyler Bray in the November games! We could not do worse than we did in October! Go Vols! SAVol
RockyBears2009 writes:
when this season is over, bray should go spend the remainder of the NFL season under peyton's wing- (i guess he still has to pass his classes at UT....). bray could be our next "peyton-like" qb in a year or two. great frame, good mechanics, quick release and a pretty good vision of the field for a kid that's 18 years old!
very promising what we saw from him yesterday-
VOL4LIFE79 writes:
With all our freshmen on the field, put Bray under center and let the team develope together.
jenna1009001 writes:
I am not sure that Bray can hold up under the same pressure that Simms has. The trouble with this decision isn the Offensive Line. It is hard to judget Qb's when they are always on their back. I do think that Bray has more upside in the long run.
Vol_in_GA writes:
This season is a wash. Let Bray start the rest of the season for the experience.
sambad writes:
I've said Bray from the start of the season. Much better gun and sees the field better. Simms needs to keep his mouth shut rather than questioning the coach. That's a sure way to lose your job. If I were the coach and read his comments he would immediately go to backup. He is not the future of this program. Bray is, at least for this year. I will reserve full judgement until I have watched Worley.
Volumnus writes:
Given our mediocre performance the "other" needs to be the biggest defensive lineman we have trained to take a snap, hand off for Poole and plow the road for him. If we keep this up the bones you read will be broken from a QB.
Fulton_Vol writes:
Bray has the most upside and the better arm. Simms has had his chance now it's time to see what Tyler can do from the first snap on. Matt's been a trooper but his lack of mobility and slow release has plagued him the whole season. Go with the freshman and build not only for next but also a possible bowl game.
ws3d writes:
I wouldn't anoint Bray too soon. It is easier to look good in spot play. We don't know if he knows the playbook as well as Simms. Does he know the checks and hot reads? Remember the pick six? I wouldn't start him, but I would keep giving him some meaningful time in each half because he does have a great arm and at 6'6" or so, he doesn't have to have great protection to see the receivers. Having said that, Simms earned the starting job for a reason.
FarmerVol writes:
Wondered when Der'Rick would do this. Season is busted. California is along way from home and sure looks sweet from the bench. If I were Ty's Dad, would already be whispering, UCLA, UCLA no USC, USC. Maybe this is the real reason. Hope Ty can hold up in the first half to the headbusting he is gonna get from those well rested, hungary Tigers. It ain't the same in the second half when folks are hot and tired.

Bray is not only the future...he's the better guy NOW (and has been since April)!

Ah, lil naffy back again. Remember when all those great QB's from Florida entered the NFL & came to amount to squat: combined & individually. If you compiled stats from Spurrier through Wuerffel, Grossman, Leak, and on to Tebow, they wouldn't amount to enough to even sniff Mannings backside. I know the jury's still out on Tebow but based on the past and the law of averages I'm gonna guess he's destined for the same at best mediocrity as all your other precious QB's. Hell, Grossman's the only one to even get anywhere(he's the worst outta all of em) & he got beat by who? Oh yeah, Manning in the Super Bowl! Since then his only notoriety came this past Sunday when he filled in for McNabb b/c he was suppossedly a better 2 minute drill QB. But on the 1st play got rocked & fumbled. Long story short, we've heard you spout the Manning vs. Florida before. Yes, he lost every game to Florida he ever played. Since then he has dominated the sport of football at the highest & most difficult level, while the past greats of Florida have done pretty much nothing in the NFL. And I think we can all agree that success in the NFL is the aspiration of all collegiate players, even those greats from Florida. If anyone tells you otherwise, it's because they had no success whatsoever on the big stage
