Yes, we have enough data on you to prove that you aren't the man for the job.

a somewhat dumb question, who would say he has done an adequate job? Easier schedule, worse results, even losing to teams we beat last yr.

I'm sorry.I have been a Tennessee fan since I was a little kid.I am now 55 yrs. old,and I have never felt this bad about a Tennessee team.It is not all on the players but on the coaching. I really don't see much improvement in the future right now.To represent the SEC now all I can say is,GO LSU.

Here's a short list

1. John Chavis
2. Kirby Smart
3. Gus Malzahn
4. Anybody, I don't care as long as he's gone

If Hart doesn't fire Dooley, it's going to get much worse......

salocke#209467 writes:

There has been no improvement at all. There needs to be coaching changes (OL & special teams as minimum). Most of OL had game experience, but was horrible. Dooley is safe for 2 more years due to high buy out. With his soft non-conference schedule less than 10 wins next year is a bust. I don't think he was ready for major program when Hamilton hired him. Thank goodness Hamilton wont hire the next football coach.

JimmyJoe writes:

DAVE HART.... I'm going to tell you how this is. You can keep him... And send the message to everyone that it's ok to lose to UK... And you can believe that things are going to get better.... Just like Dooley thinks that Palardy is going to ever make a field goal... Or hope that he suddenly becomes this great recruiter...not a good one... Because just good talent can't win here when the coaching is as bad as it is. Or you can be decisive and force him to resign.... Make it look like it was his idea...which is hard to do since he doesn't seem to have any ideas...and then we need to pony up and get a good coach... Not one from the bargain basement... Remember Saben didn't wont to go to Bama at first... We need to go find a good one...l that will instil pride and expect effort.

I think we need to return to our roots and not chase these flash in the pan rainbow coaches that will turn Tennessee Football into a gimmick.

That said, I would like to see us hire David Cutcliffe with the understanding that he would coach 4 - 5 years. He needs to hire someone to "develop" into a head coach. At this point, I do not have an opinion on that successor. I would keep Wilcox and Lance Thompson. Everyone else goes.

One word for today's game and the majority of this season....pathetic

As for Dooley, he is in year two of a six year deal. He won't be fired yet. However, if year three is status quo or worse, he will be gone. Depth and youth excuses will be "out the window" and coaching mistakes will have to take center stage if the blunders continue.

KingDanno (Inactive) writes:

Hell we have a huge budget for coaching staff! We hire to win. We aren't going to keep Dooley cause we can't find any better. I like

1. Jon Gruden
2. John Chavis
3. Bill Cowher
4. Me

But who I really want but won't come for another 5 years or so is the legend, Peyton Manning.

I hope Dooley and the entire coaching staff is fired before they get back to Knoxville. He was brought here because he was a cheap deal so that Hamilton could construct another building. DD is a good guy but is NOT a SEC coach and is constantly out-coached almost every game we play. What type of coach can't get a team up for a sub-par KY squad? You suck DD! Get the hell out of Knoxville!

tomkats3242 writes:

I have never been as upset as I was today because the team was not parpared, no spirit, no hustle, no ability and no desire to win a game against a nothing team. ALL coaches need to be FIRED tonight. No one could do a worst job than the coaching staff at UT. If the University, AD or President of the University takes actions than Dooley should be a man an quit today. NO excuses, YOU and your STAFF suck.

dgcarter43 writes:

Derek Dooley will be back next year. UT can't afford to buy out his contract and pay the big bucks to bring in a big name coach now. There should be a shakeup in the rest of the staff. The defense has done their part. The offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and special teams coaches need to go.

JimmyJoe writes:

Yeah Coach... Come on you went to law school... You are smart enough to know there is no way you are going to get it done here...you are just taking our money. Come on do the honorable thing and quit.

volbob writes:

Urban Meyer at $15,000,000 per year? Jon Gruden at $14,999,999? Peewee Herman at $1.50? I could do what Dooley's staff did this year: call the wrong play at just the right time, buy extra hot dogs for the fat and lazy offensive line, coddle Da'Drop to keep him here for another year. All for the bargain price of $100 per hour. Pathetic. Worst UT team I can remember, even the 0-6 start to 1988. Fulmer got the ax for the Wyoming loss - what about losing to friggin' Kentucky? A decrease in pay?

How anout Mike Leach. The guy we should have hired in the first place. Unfortunately, he'll probably be spoken for by the time the administration comes to the conclusion that CDD just can't get the job done. Hey, I'm not talking about a national championship, just win more conference games than we lose.

Money talks sure, but so do we. And we are the ones buying tickets. What the fans say goes. Dooley, maybe we can keep you as a lawyer, but you have to wear those orange pants in the courtroom. I'm tired of freaking waiting till next season over and over. This is BS. Dooley is responsible. If those players aren't in it, crack some skulls! Make them afraid to not give 100%. Dooley is no different from Fulmer. Strong recruiter, but can't transition the talent he signs to "Wins." I look at him on the sideline and I don't think...."That guy knows what he's doing and he's a winner." He looks lost. We have no choice but to give him one more year, but I see 6-6 next year. We are no longer a relevant threat in the SEC. We are the Ole Miss of the East.

What do you mean UT can't afford to buy out his contract? Get real and quit talking like you know something about that. Thornton has already offered to put a million dollars toward the buyout.

I hear this all the time. How many times did Sabin tell alabama no you only have to say yes one time. And by the way just about anybody could do a better job than Dooley his teams get worse as the year goes on. Mike Leach would be an excellent choice and would kill to have the Tenn. job. Do you not thinks Ohio ST said the same thing "who will come here?" Show the cabbage and they will come.

Are you kidding me? Easier schedule? UT probably had the hardest schedule in the East this year...We play LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas...Do I need to remind you what teams were ranked 1, 2 and 3 this week? Who would have said the record would have been better if they were told we would go without Hunter all season and without Bray for 5 weeks (+ gimpy thumb for 2)? There were plenty of games we could have won if we had ANY depth. We probably would have had much better chances of winning against either FL, SC, or GA with Hunter-Rogers-Bray combo--not all of them, mind you, but at *least* one of them.
Although no one expected them to lose to KY. So I'll give you that one.
