It is obviously the greatest college basketball coach in history stepping down from the program that she loved dearly.
Maybe.

Has to be Pat, 100 years from now the no one will know who Dooley or Jones were, Summit is a legend.

It has to be Pat Summitt. Although it was inevitably going to happen, you just thought she would be there forever.

Pat Summitt not only built the Lady Vols programe, she built women's college basketball. 70 former players and coaches that are current coaches. 100% graduation rate, 1098 career victories, 8 National Championships, almost 50% of her games were against ranked opponents, has the TBA court named after her and she is an icon that even those who only care about men's sports recognize her.

It has to be Pat stepping down. Although it was inevitable, it was huge when it actually happened. Just thought she would coach forever, I guess.

Absolutely!!! We all know who Neyland was. But how many can name even the two coaches before him, who were the interim coaches during wartime, and all the coaches after? Same with Ray Mears. Pat Summit has done what no other coach in the history of college sports has done. Her name is synominous with integrity and a winning tradition around the world. All other choices in this poll absolutely pale in comparison,, are even ludicrous to mention in the same breath.

Pat Summitt is up there with Coach Neyland on the all time Tennessee Mount Rushmore. While football will always be the focal point of sports in general, this woman is a homegrown, dominated and was a trailblazer, was a mentor to scores of youngsters and was always, always, always a fantastic representative and advocate for all things Tennessee. How can any other story even come close?

Hard to disagree with the Pat votes, but I'm not sure the phrase "stepping down" is accurate.
