If Cuonzo played in the NBA (which I have never heard of him) he sure can't seem to coach up his players. Every one of the guys including Stokes are no better than they were when they first stepped on the court.

Agree with comments that most players are not playing better than when Martin arrived. Can say due to Maymon not playing, but that is always going to be the case with players coming and going.
McBrick is really off this year, with Golden not far behind. What did they do in the off season? Definitely not practice free throws.

Martin and Dooley, my how we must suffer through 3 such disappointing seasons with both at their respective helms in the same era.
Hope the AD learned something this year and is getting prospective names now for the end of next year.
We do not need another kabuki dance when Martin who was plucked from obscurity is provided his one way ticket to return there, albeit with a fatter wallet.

This is just a bad team. Martin would look better if they had Mamon. The don't have a go to guy. They don't have a shooter. The "offensive" players thay have are defensive liabilities. Whoever had Stokes in the weightroom should be fired. They made him bigger but less explosive. This team may win 4 games...tops.

The sign of a good coach, your team gets better with time, not worse. He recruited some of these guys so he should be able to win with these guys. We desperately need a point guard. Trae is toooooo slow and inconsistent.

Stokes is playing as though he has other things on his mind. Im thinking he has succumbed to the same thing that sent a certain Running Back from Kansas on his way back home. Some little sweet something has dug her claws in the boy. Id bet on it.

College coaches seem to have always been overly enamored by "athletic" basketball players. Martin adds to this by being in love with "length." As a result, UT has a bunch of long, athletic basketball players -none of whom can put the ball in the basket with sufficient regularity from a distance of more than a foot. I.e. Martin, like many other coaches, put too little emphasis on the ability to score. They simply think that scoring just comes natural. With Martin, this might be more ingrained than with others, because it did come naturally to him. You know that "they" say, "Those that can, do. Those that can't coach." Since Martin could (and can) shoot, he cannot coach it (at least so it appears).

I don't know about this team having a lot of "athletic" players. I think there are only two players on the team that I would consider athletic Mcrae and Richardson (maybe Yemi, but he just so raw). Stokes is not athletic at all. His game is all about power. McBee, Golden, Hall, I don't think so. The rest of don't really matter anyway cept maybe Reese, but the jury is still out on him.

I will agree with you on McBrick not being athletic and, to a degree on Stokes. McBrick, in fact, cannot do anything but try hard (which he does). Stokes does have a lot of power, but note the finesse in a lot of his moves around the basket (his footwork is very good). He just cannot finish - when he actually gets the ball in a shooting position. I completely disagree with you on Golden and Hall. They are athletic and, at times, at least one of them can play basketall. Hall, however, is, and has never been, and will never be, a division one basketball player. This is due to the fact that he cannot shoot above 15% on any shots beyond dunks. I say again that his team should change its names to the Masons because of all the bricks they throw up.

Sure he was better in his first year. Now, every team in the SEC has the "book" on him. This year, he is always double or tripled teamed whenever he gets the ball. His frustration with fewer touches is leading to ill-advised shot selections and bad decisions. Hopefully, he'll settle down and make better decisions with the ball.
Having said that, there's no excuse for his horrible free throw shooting and fouling. His biggest asset right now is being big. He rebounds well, and he's a force in the middle on defense.
I have no idea about his work ethic, but he talks like he wants to improve, and I believe CCM understands what it takes to get him to the next level. Time will tell.
