Yes, if we don't land the players we want by signing day. It takes a good mixture.

Go Vols!

Until we recruit more depth and some better players we need the JUCO`s!

No. We need stability in the program, not just a quick fix. No one today seems to plan for tomorrow. It is just worry just about today. Tommorrow will take care of itself. The only way to get stability is to get quality athletes with sufficient intelligence to learn and improve. Most athletes in JC are there because they lack intelligence and/or a work ethic. Some are needed, I know to bolster immediate needs, but UT should be very selective. It is better to take a risk on a three start h.s. student than anything less than a 5 star j.c.

I vote yes. Bring in players from any place that can help this program get back to respectability. Once that happens, player selections will be easier.

Ironcity writes:

We are recruiting plenty of JC already. Should we recruit more? No. It hasn't worked for Miss st and it will not work for us. Also are we talking basketball or football. I wold love to see us bring in a JC PG like pearl did with Maze.

JUCO players fill needs where you have a gap. Bring in the right guys, and it is a plus for the program. But they should be screened real well to establish would they really fit in, and I mean more than on the court or field.

Rumblefish writes:

It's simple....YES.

JUCOs are hungry for the big time colleges. That's why they put in the time in JUCO, where they get no exposure.

Add to that...they obviously fill position needs, where solid potential HS recruits haven't filled.

Razor784 writes:

I don't think we need a lot of them, but when the program is down and in need of some depth, then we should go after a few.

We have middle of the pack talent. Yes, we have to.

Tennessee needs it's name back and playing well is the way to fame. If JUCO will help us, don't hesitate to use the resource. Recruiting is like anything else. "Moderation" is the key word and it's worked in the past for the Vols and other great colleges. I think Butch Jones will be able to find a good home on Rocky Top if he uses his resources in moderation!

I agree with oldster. I voted NO, but I believe that after NSD you need to fill holes in your program. I would take CP type talent everytime. But really need to work toward getting the best recruits from HS.
GO BIG RNG...VFL

Of course, if they fit into system and are above average players.Any where to better the program.

No. We should recruit more pro players.

Just have them wear masks like 'rasslers and nobody will ever know...

Yes ...for the next couple of years.

I'm going to say yes for right now UNLESS CBJ and staff get enough real promising athletes to fill out the full class. I doubt that is the case, so lets go get some guys who can step in and fill a few critical need places. This year we simply need to post a competitive season where we begin to look like the Tennessee of old..the one we all remember and love. AND PLEASE! No more 650 yard defensive debacles, no more total 2nd half meltdowns, and no more long faced, "why are we here" coaches and players on the sidelines. If that means we temporarily need more JUCO players, fine. Just know we are ALL behind you and only want for your (and Tennessee's) success. GO CBJ! GO VOLS!!!

We won that 650 yard debacle. We had 700 + yards. Is that the way you want to win ? NO!!!!! It sure was a fun game to watch though.

Big_Orange_Aide writes:

It looks like CBJ uses his resources much more wisely than the previous staff, on defense, did. So far, I can believe Jones is doing the smart things when it comes to recruiting. While i am not sure about parts of his staff being SEC ready, I do believe he knows the importance of recruiting. He is slowly uniting a divided fan base.

RockyMtnVol writes:

You can't have a cookie cutter method to recuiting, knowing when to go after a JR College player vs. HS is a matter of timing...both sides of the fence should be given equal amounts of evaluation and thought. HS players don't alway provide stability and the same can be said about JR. College, it does not always come with results in the first year or ever.

Let the coaches do the work on recuiting, and trust their judgement...that is what they are getting paid for, and I am pretty sure they want to win just as much as any UT Fan.

Go Vols!!!

That may be that we won (by the skin of our teeth), but that IS NOT Tennessee football! And it will be the rare day going forward where you can give up that many yards and still prevail. Nope. I stand by my comment....NO MORE 650 YARD DEFENSIVE DEBACLES!

Great point, many of these talented athletes were academic disqualified after HS and were plenty talented enough to play CFB. It only makes sense that a great HS athlete immediately out of HS will only get bigger/stronger in 1 or 2 years of Jr College ball.

Only if they're difference makers like Patterson. I wouldn't sign any unless I thought they could start on day 1...only 5 star players.
