  • A female inmate tends a seed tray in the greenhouse. Chief Roger Wilson says in addition to 65 chickens kept for eggs, over 600 tomato plants, roughly 250 pepper plants and other vegetables are grown for use in the officer meals program. “It’s a great way to help keep our food costs lower, plus the inmates receive some education in gardening that they can take with them when they leave,” says Wilson.
