No need for negative posts jcvet. He WAS rewarded for a career, and rightly so. Be thankful for this acknowledgement. Lofton was class on and off the court for your Vols and will be remembered as the key ingredient that turned your program around.
Congrats Vol Nation

There is your answer TommyJack from the previous article's chain of posts. I was wrong with my "terminally fatigued" assessment. I desperately hope that it isn't serious for your Vols.

I vote terminally fatigued, but certainly a good question TJ. Focus was just not there for Lofton. Anyone in the know?

It's way too early to fret. Different teams handle the first round in different manners. Memphis struggled defensively, Vandy rolled over. Yes, UNC andUCLA looked strong, but that is no indication that either team will run off with the title. The stress on this site seems high. I think Butler is battle tested and experienced, but don't count out your Vols. They are more athletic and if they get hot, your team could be in the mix with NC. Once that happens, as DaveVol stated earlier, you never know what will transpire. UT plays to the level of the team before them. I'm rooting for your team.

Qutsider comments: (I enjoy UM, VU AND UT)
UT looks mentally tired. Low shooting percentage coupled with poor off the ball defense (still exceptional defense man up) shows me that the throws of a long and difficult schedule has worn on them upstairs. Lack of concentration leads to these two things. Vols like to rip on the Memphis schedule, but the other side of the coin is that UM are fresher come tourney time because of less struggles during the regular season. Seniors can usually adjust. It's youger players that may struggle in the tourney. Tyler's outbursts that marc_ash denoted can stem this time of year from such mental frustration. Having seen UT live twice this year I still contend that he is your key. What a wonderfully unselfish star he is. He'll drop 20 most nights next year because he can - he simply doesn't need to now.
Best thing to happen to the Vols would be to win one at most in the SEC tourney. They need the rest and playing for the title won't help their cause. They desreve and will receive a #1 seed even with an early exit. This SEC title meant a lot to UT because it hadn't been done in so long. Future Vol teams will realize that the big picture is more important, and they have the coach and the talent to get there. I think potentially there will be three TN teams in the final 8, and UT should have designs on staying longer.

Memphis still has two scholarships remaining. Eubanks presumably would have taken one had he opted for Memphis. Calipari has said that he would carry them over to next year. Pastner was the main reason that he signed with AZ and will be an influence, as will Negedu's desire to play for a championship caliber team immediately. They are definitely your biggest threat and it's a shame Pearl wasn't the last visit. I do wish you all the luck. He would make an instant impact at UT.
