UT Football is in as bad trouble as it has ever been. Those in charge are so desperate they hire mediocre coaches, give them healthy raises, and a second-tier head coach woefully paid beyond his expertise, experience or track record.

The coaching search that resulted in his hire was an absolute shame, casting UT in the kind of light it has been since Mike Hamilton first began his incompetent tenure---except momentum of stupidity by Hart has more national journalists looking.

One of those Journalists, Tim from Louisiana, wants UT to do well; he said good things. He knows Jones and staff are far, far below the level UT would command if it had not become a destination to be avoided by better coaches.

That’s due to bad fans, the Fulmer debacle (Hall of Fame Coach, widely respected by HC's around the nation, etc, etc; yet publicly humiliated by Hamilton and the BOT and top two admins at UT;)
lack of recruiting base in Tennessee---yet these coaches come from some bush league school and tell ignorant Tennesseans what locals want to hear---Tennessee recruits from Tennessee can win the SEC---and they get three years to deliver garbage wrapped in excuses.

Jones et al are a small cut above Dooley as coaches. Disciplinarians they may be; but they have nowhere near the background to win in the SEC. They do not know how to recruit 5-stars---barely recruiting 4-stars---real ones, not 4-stars they have convinced rating services to rank upwards, to make them look good.

Notice they raped Cincinnati to come here, taking recruits from that school. THAT is classless---for a 3-star player, on top of it all. But they have no other options, because they are not getting into the big time players.

UT is in for a long ride---and it will not end well with this bunch.

Men's Basketball, as well as baseball, as well as the shameful Pat Summitt handling is just par for the course at UT, nowadays.

Why is this a circus?

I think it is just the opposite. Dave Hart is quietly going about the very serious business of hiring the next UT coach.

Hart has said from the start he will not make any statements until he announces his hire.

Hart's refusal to comment on rumors or speculation now make him look more focused and serious on this hire.

The media has no info or real sources since all the powers(the Haslam's) publicly have stated they have no part in this process.Only Dave Hart knows who and whats going on and he isn't saying.

I actually have a new respect for Mr Hart and his refusal to be badgered by the media.

The good news folks is no matter who it is we will have a better coach than the one that just left!

Be patient and--------------- whoever he hires get on board support the vols.

I'm glad for the week off from huge dropped passes, missed FGs, CBs lining up 10 yards off a receiver and backpedaling on the snap, being teased for a half or three quarters, and QBs saying to h3ll with it and throwing sidearm off their back foot.

Something you may try to get through these hard times.

Last yr even though I have followed UT for 50 plus years and will be a fan for the rest of my life football season had once again lost its luster and had become boring.

I made a fateful decision I decide I would pick me a top 5 team and follow them they would sort of become my boys so to speak.
Well I picked LSU quite honestly this started as joke sort of like picking a fantasy team.

Then a miracle happened that same week LSU goes int Bama and beats BAMA! All the sudden people started talking to me because of my LSU hat BAMA fans just looked pissed and I actually got a discount from a manager at the local restaraunt!Before you know it what started as joke turned into something fun I started keeping up with LSU (still pulled for my vols in their games)learned their roster and had a blast all they way till the NC game when WE (sarcasm) lost.

I have decided once again this year to do the same (especially after last nights performance)

For 2012 my new "boys" will be ----- OREGON
shoot why not they are fun as hll to watch and they play USC later in 2012.

Dooley is a smart man he knows 7-5 will be seen as a huge improvement whether it really is our not it will be perceived that way.

At first I was against it but after thinking about it----- why not? It is obvious Simms is not an SEC QB (no knock on a good tough kid thrown in against the best but he is not an SEC QB) and I'm not getting any younger.

It just shows what a loss Hunter was, not only did we lose Hunter we also now have Rogers.We went from a future NFL player to a guy that wouldn't make the travel team by most SEC schools.

Rogers drops are nothing new he has done this since arriving in Knoxville and if I remember correctly had a huge drop against LSU last year when we were trying to kill clock at the end.

sorry for the rant but as a Tennessee fan for over 50 years I am really frustrated with not just this year but the last 6 to 8 or however long this non sense has been going on.

The bad news is the SEC east is there for the taking, this year a slightly above average team will win it and we can't even field a average team.

As a final note I do believe it is ridiculous to talk about firing Dooley he did inherit a mess and deserves a couple more years but--------I think I speak for lot's of real vol fans when I say in my gut I don't think he is the guy to get it done--- I hope I'm wrong.
