Written on Peyton Manning 'looking forward to supporting' Butch Jones:

My favorite Peyton story is the year Sports Illustrated sent a crew to Gainesville to do a cover story on Peyton and the vawls. 62 points later there's Danny boy sitting pretty on that cover. Peyton is a great NFL QB and a great person. In college he was good. Just not Wuerffel good. 4 SEC titles. a National Title and a Heisman says it all. Good job Peyton. Too bad you never beat Florida.

Sincerely,

Charles Woodson

Written on Govols247: Vols land 2015 Fla. linebacker :

This kid is a player. Unfortunately ut has 20 months to keep him from decommitting and the offer list is far too impressive for that to happen. Check back with Cecil in mid November when the vawls are struggling to stay out of the SEC cellar and fight to finish 5-7. He's enjoying this moment. He is in the news! Today. Wait until signing day nears and all the elite players across the country are getting all the love. Keep an eye on how the NCAA handles the Miami case. If the punishment is light I say he ends up a Cane. If not, he's Tallahassee bound.

Written on David Climer: UT's bad APR shows deeper troubles:

in response to RockyMtnVol:

I am sure that pointing fingers at the coach for the lack of effort some athletes put toward academics is easy. David Climer is a Vandy Homer, and just because UT has went through some tough years, doesn't mean it will continue. Go ahead, kick Dooley all you want, UT hired him and yes Cheeks, Hart might have allowed it to go one year too long, but CDD did try. CDD was not ready for the big time...that is easy to say..NOW. However, CBJ is the man, the fan base loves him and if these writers are not careful, they might find themselves outside looking in...very soon. Although, CBJ has way more class than some of these "sports" writers, they will soon be on the Butch Train as he and the Vols plow through the SEC.

Go Vols!!

It's great to see passion in college football but if you think ut is going to "plow" through the SEC anytime in the near future, then you are REALLY drinking the kool-aid. Do you realize how far ut needs to rise and 5-6 other programs to drop off for ut to be a "big boy" in a big boy conference. The SEC is better and deeper than ever and ut could not have picked a worse time to be so dismal. ut may catch up with some teams in the future but we will never see this program "plow" through anything.

Have another. Cheers.

They don't really "ban" them. They just can the current user name. So the trolls always come back using their new name. No Matter "suggest removal" is a great tool. I do wish however that we could select not to view their comments. But "it is what it is"....

Exactly. I've had several names "canned" over the years but I just keep on coming back.

So easy even a ut fan can figure it out.

Nice job.

Written on Alabama's Saban calls for SEC to expand schedule:

in response to 10seVol85_Part_Deux:

Well, surprise surprise. Franklin is against expanding. I guess he likes Vandy having a fighting chance for a bowl appearance every now and then.

Oldster, just because UT has been at a slight disadvantage playing Bama the last few years doesn't mean it will always be so. Don't forget, we've had a seven-game losing streak to them before, and they've had the same to us. We beat them 10 out of 12 times before Saban showed up. Also, think how exciting the Bama game was in 2009! If not for an injured kicker repeatedly kicking the ball into Mount Cody's chest, the Vols would have won that game. It was one for the ages, either way. Or what about if that 5-overtime game never happened?

"What if" said the ut fan. "What if".

Good point. Check back with us in 4-5 years and Lyle might have one wall up. However, the "house" will never get completed. This has become a revolving door. Sure, ut might improve. The problem is the big boys in the SEC continue to improve as well. Accept mediocrity. That's all ut football will achieve under Lyle. 5-7 this upcoming season.

Ya know, I just don't get it either. This kid is NOT a Peyton Manning people, so get over it! But, he did stick it out through one of the most difficult times in the history of Tennessee athletics. Once again you proved what a buffoon you really are..Even if CBJ was UT's 7th choice, then that would mean 6 other coaches' turned UT down..So, with that asinine statement being said: That only proves we are lucky to have Butch Jones, because no other division I fb coach in the country wanted the job..Thanks for helping us realize just how fortunate UT is to have a coach that was in such high demand (at least 3 other programs offered before UT did) yet, he was so interested in the UT job he put Colorado on hold waiting for Charlie Strong's response..UT is lucky indeed, good point, Jeffy..
