Mike Leach sounds like a good candidate, but only if he is NOT from any state in the SEC and does not have intimate connections with a SEC team. Experience has shown that those who have connections with states within the SEC will not do the job here they should do. Bill Battle is a perfect example of this. Unless we get someone who is a UT native, Leach would be good.
Also, under no circumstances should UT consider anyone from the ACC! That conference is absolutely terrible year after year, and the coaches from there operate under intirely different football philosophies than does the SEC.
Kids will be kids and will say and do things without thinking so give the idiot a pass and open the gate for him to go to another school.
For those of you who are drawn to play the good semaritian and defend that poor, poor Coach Fulmer, think about this:
That poor old Coach Fulmer is a multi-millionaire who can live anywhere he wants like a king for the rest of his life. He doesn't have to work another day if he so wants. Not only did he receive most of his millions from us fans via UT, but he also enjoyed much money from endorsements during his tenure here. He leaves a rich man for his medocre performances/results especially during the last seven years as UT's head coach. So do you still have sympathy for a millionaire who continued a downward spiral since Paton Manning's QB days? I don't think so!
Mike Hamilton made the decision he was forced to make not by his choice, but by Coach Fulmer's and the players' choice. Mike Hamilton had nothing to do with it.
While I am a total Vol fan, I am also a realist; and I think that Berry is talking from emotion and not objectivity. I hate it, but Vanderbilt will beat us in one of the few times it has during my lifetime.
I would rather we have no football program than to suffer the continued humiliation of getting the phooey beat out of us by schools who would be beaten by some of our local high school teams.
