4 star linebacker Gavin Bryant of Jackson Alabama just committed to the balls
in response to EarthBoundMisfit: you did not get Stokes or Hubbs from Memphis.Memphis did not have a scholly for Stokes. He graduated early...and Memphis was in mid-season. He WANTED to play for the Tigers, but he had to settle for his second choice.Hubbs was not offered by the Tigers.(And Newbern,Tn is 90 plus miles north of Memphis.)We already have shooting guards Chris Crawford, Geron Johnson, and Markel Crwaford...so it wasn't like we needed another one. Barton was buried on the bench. He wasn't going to see a lot of playing time behind Joe Jackson/Pookie Powell.

that's funny, I'm looking at the recruiting rankings and Hubbs is rated higher then any player in the Tigers next recruiting class. So I'm sure Memphis would have taken him if he wanted to go to uofm.
Its always good to get a player with a chip on his shoulder. Antonio is hungry to prove himself and not to mention he is very talented. He should add the missing piece for the Vols this winter
Haven't posted in a while, but had to give a GBO for picking up Mr.Hurd! Hurd reminds me of Arian Foster with his size and running style.
Tip for all NFL teams: Draft CP, get him the ball, and get out of the way.
Good Hire. Recruiting and Defense will receive huge upgrade. Will be interesting to see how many junios Strong can get to stay
in response to DeltaCharlie3: One correction to the article, the Florida game wasn't close. Regarding Dooley, he was awful from day one. But the next guy will do about the same after 3 years. I expect UT to take a major step back next year regardless of the coach. We're talking 4-8 at best next year.

Correction, you and all gator fans HOPE the next guy will do the same.
in response to born2ride: No suprise but he is too skinny to play PF in the SEC. If a kid would rather play for Tiger High in a city with the highest crime rate in the country we do not need him. Martin got Robert Hubbs who is a much better player. We will be fine without a Memphis thug. Go Big Vols!Orange For Life!

Come on man. This kid is as far from a thug as you can get. He has a strong Christian family and is a 4.0 student. He would have been a great addition to Tennessee. When you make comments like this, it just comes off as bitterness. I would say that he is missing out on the opportunity to play for a true players coach like CCM. Pastner has proven that he can recruit with the best but his player development skills is still very much in question. Pastner-No top 25 wins in his first 3 seasons with multiple MCD All AmericansMartin-3 top 25 wins in his first season, with limited talent
With Mississippi St. focusing on the Vols air attack, I expect a heavy dose of our O-line and Neal. Especially because the O-line is arguably playing the best of any group.
Go Vols, Silence the Cowbells
The mark of a good o line is how they play in the 4th quarter. In the uga game the Vols o line wore down the vaunted Georgia front seven. Neal was getting five yards a run and on his late TD run, he had a hole the size of Knoxville to run through. I see alot of progress being made by this group.

No, but a core group of R. Gay, Z. Randolph, and M. Gasol returning off of two playoff appearances and a franchise record winning percentage do make a winning team. It also doesn't hurt to have Peyton and JT attending the games.
You can hate while the Grizz make another playoff run.Go Vols! Go Grizz!
in response to JayTee: No good players know what to do before the game starts that's what practice is for. We are four games into the season and the same mistakes keep happening. Either they can't learn or you don't know how to teach.

I would have to respectively disagree sir,
In the Georgia game I saw the Vols correct two blaring weaknesses. Last year this team would have folded in the face of being down 27-10 early in the game. This years team did not quit and kept competing for the entire game. Also, the running game was punishing uga, especially on UT's last two drives. I believe the Vols were driving to score when Bray fumbled.
Now, if the defense sees this kind of improvement while learning the 3-4 then this well be a very dangerous team.
Either way, this Vol fan sees the team correcting their mistakes.
I'll be in Starkville. Tenn had played well there in recent trips, let's hope it continues.

He will at least have to change his tune a little bit. His only argument was that Coach Zo couldn't recruit. And don't be surprised if Coach lands Nicholls or JWIII from Memphis and turns this into a top 10 class. But now I am just getting greedy, Great Pickup!
And the kick this time is..... No Siree, No Siree, No Siree! Tomorrow we get back to Tennessee Football.
in response to TheVolSnake: Both are listed as probable, Lathers is much better than Maggitt. Lathers is around 85 to 95% ready and Maggitt is around 80% toe still causing some issues. Both have been practicing. I suspect Both will play on Saturday but as you know anything came happen between now and then.

Thanks Snake,
I doubt that Maggitt's turf toe is gonna get any better till the season is over. Turf toe is a very nagging injuring. As usual, great info. KNS could use someone like you.
I posted this yesterday, but didn't get an answer. What is the update on Lathers and Maggitt? Have threy been practicing this week, and will they be ready for sat?
Does anybody have an update on Lathers and Maggitt? Just want to make sure the Vols will have all hands on deck against the gators.
Not the prettiest win, but 2 and 0 is all that matters. O didnt show too much as expected and D got rest and good reps for backups. All in all, solid win.
Besides, it could be worse. We could be Ark. Maybe the most tragic football season ever, in Fayetteville.
Lathers is probable for Ga. State. This is very good news, but I don't see the reasoning in playing him this game when he is not needed and possibly getting him hurt for UF. Ill trust the coaches, but I don't think playing an injury prone Lathers is smart, especially when he will probably not be needed.
Glad to see how much trust and confidence the defensive players have in Sal. Get well soon Herman.
in response to TheVolSnake: Nothing yet, I expect the word will come out on Tuesday due to the long weekend. I think if it was serious they would have already been talking about surgery or treatment.

Yea, I get the same feeling. I just know it would make a lot of Vols fans feel better to know that their defensive leader is going to be there going forward. Hopefully it is just a minor thing.

Snake, any word on Lathers?
in response to johnlg00: Gee, I guess you're right. NO, you're not! Did you not read the article that says UT isn't starting a passel of freshmen this year because THEY DON'T HAVE TO? I'm just going to start naming names of guys on the squad right now who are likely to be in the League someday, and see how far I get. Ready? Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Cordarelle Patterson, AJ Johnson, Curt Maggitt, Brent Brewer, Prentiss Waggner, most of the O- and D-linemen...should I go on? Nearly every one of these guys could start for any team in the country. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that at least 15 guys off this squad will make all-star lists and get drafted into the NFL and at least a half-dozen more will get looks as free agents, compared to about, what, five in the last three years? Sure is too bad UT doesn't recruit difference-makers anymore, isn't it, DA? Just wait and see how many of these guys are on the POST-season all-star lists, compared to the smaller number who were on the PRE-season lists because of their youth and UT's less-than-stellar recent record. Sure, these guys may or may not be the best there ARE at their positions, but they are certainly AMONG the best. Besides, you just cherry-picked guys from several different teams to come up with your list. My guys are all Vols, which I would say was a pretty impressive group from ONE rebuilding team. Sheez! Some people!

John, have you heard anything on the status of Lathers?
Kicking game was solid, except for the missed extra point. Darr changed field position with some good punts. Bray was excellent on third down. My voice is gone from from screaming "Da Rick Who?" all night. Great game Vols. Best time I have had in the Dome.
The Dome is Rockin!
The person who might benefit the most from shade tree McCullers presence is Sentimore. Look for him to be a sack machine on the outside with Big Dan clogging the middle.
in response to CoverOrange: Collision in practice, reportedly. They are checking the license plates on McCullers now.

I heard that McCullers sneezed and this simultaneously broke Bullocks leg and tore Lewis' ACL.
All joking aside, Im ready for our new #98 to remind us of the old #98, Mr. John Henderson.
Both teams are pass first offenses. The game will come down to who can control the line of scrimmage and run the ball successfully.
I think the Vols pull away late by wearing NC state down with added depth on the O-line, UT by 2 scores.
I think mdvol said it best. "Vols hang a hundred in the first two games, and drop forty on the gators."
Is it weird that I keep getting out my tickets for Fri just to look at them?
The sky is the limit for this kid. He can make himself a top-ten pick with more hard work this year and next.

That's ok, Lil zz. We all know that you start your gator history in the 70's cause uf might as well have been a high school before then. But you can keep reminding yourself of the good ole days, and meanwhile Zookchamp will continue to turn 5 star talent into mediocre seasons.
Get your story straight bodeane, your other screen name just put the uf-UT series at 22-19. If you are going to troll with multiple screen names, at least cross-reference your drivel first.
in response to DeltaCharlie3: This made news here, really? UT is desperate for some UF news. Thompson is a promising player, no doubt, but he's a true Freshman TE who was assured of a redshirt even before his injury. Meanwhile, UFs depth chart at TE looks like this: Jordan Reed, Clay Burton, Tevin Westbrook and Kent Taylor. UF also has Omarius Hines and Tray Burton who can play TE. Move along.

My bday is the 30th, and I can't think of a better present than seeing our boys put a whoopin on the pack in the Dome.
Whoa, ease up on them coach Zo, Italy is our friend.
in response to Rich_Is_Re-born: http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-foot... Stats from today's scrimmage. A solid day from the RBs. He might be small, but Devrin Young continues to be really consistent running and catching the ball. Really good to see Q. Watson with a 61yd scamper. However, he had 6 carries for 60 yds...ouch. THE BIGGEST THING........Palardy 4-4 on FGs, and Darr 43 yard average on punts. If Bray goes down or gets in trouble, I REALLY thing Worley is ready for the big show. Looks like a good productive day.

Its good to see that Patterson was able to play in the scrimmage despite the shoulder sprain.
RR, I noticed that Lathers didn't have any stats in the scrimmage, was he held out for some reason?
This story gets the prize for longest caption, keep it short and sweet guys.

Coach Zo has Tennessee high on the list of a few really good recruits from the state of Tennessee for next year. Nicholls from Briarcrest in Memphis and Hubbs. I'm not sure where Hubbs plays high school ball, maybe somebody can help meet out with that.
I don't care if they are practicing at cowboys stadium, they need to focus on getting better every session and not worry about where the practices are being held.
Got my tickets for the for the ncst game, section 231 row 1. Oh yeah!
Good win against a veteran club. I wonder if the Lithuanian announcers kept referring to Jarnell's size 20 shoes. Lol

I don't know about the SEC poll, but I wouldn't mind if the powers that be under sold the Vols. It worked well for our guys last year.
My little brother hasnt seen JS play in person, so I took him to see a memphis summer league basketball game that Jarnell was playing in. The young man was impressive, he has all-american potential and a good head on his shoulders. Look for Stokes' ball handling and mid-range jumper to be much improved this year.
If you are predicting Tennessee to win the NC. The I'll predict that Stokes makes first team All-American.
Does anybody know when the basketball pre season rankings come out?

It was for too much time in the tanning bed.
Does anybody else think its weird that kns waited a month to report this? But, come to think about it, they do enjoy "making waves" when it comes to Vol football. The kid was just having some fun. And the ones who are condemning him for splashing water while riding a jet ski, are the ones that never got to ride on jet skis with a hot girl because they were too busy yelling "citizens arrest."
Nothing to see here.

Thanks VK, lets hope he made it with the rest of the team. I picture coach Martin having a "Home Alone" moment. We left Jeronne!!
There was no mention of Maymon in the article and he wasnt in the photo. Is he on this trip?
Tennessee opens as a 3 pt. favorite against ncst. But I guess that news would be too positive for KNS.
They were good enough to finish second in the SEC in the regular season with a first-year head coach. Your fear is palpable. The Vols caught a break being able to notch 2 easy wins against Peabody twice a year.
