you did not get Stokes or Hubbs from Memphis.
Memphis did not have a scholly for Stokes. He graduated early...and Memphis was in mid-season. He WANTED to play for the Tigers, but he had to settle for his second choice.
Hubbs was not offered by the Tigers.(And Newbern,Tn is 90 plus miles north of Memphis.)
We already have shooting guards Chris Crawford, Geron Johnson, and Markel Crwaford...so it wasn't like we needed another one.

Barton was buried on the bench. He wasn't going to see a lot of playing time behind Joe Jackson/Pookie Powell.

that's funny, I'm looking at the recruiting rankings and Hubbs is rated higher then any player in the Tigers next recruiting class. So I'm sure Memphis would have taken him if he wanted to go to uofm.

Regarding Dooley, he was awful from day one. But the next guy will do about the same after 3 years.

I expect UT to take a major step back next year regardless of the coach. We're talking 4-8 at best next year.

Come on man. This kid is as far from a thug as you can get. He has a strong Christian family and is a 4.0 student. He would have been a great addition to Tennessee. When you make comments like this, it just comes off as bitterness.
I would say that he is missing out on the opportunity to play for a true players coach like CCM. Pastner has proven that he can recruit with the best but his player development skills is still very much in question.

The mark of a good o line is how they play in the 4th quarter. In the uga game the Vols o line wore down the vaunted Georgia front seven. Neal was getting five yards a run and on his late TD run, he had a hole the size of Knoxville to run through. I see alot of progress being made by this group.

No, but a core group of R. Gay, Z. Randolph, and M. Gasol returning off of two playoff appearances and a franchise record winning percentage do make a winning team. It also doesn't hurt to have Peyton and JT attending the games.

We are four games into the season and the same mistakes keep happening. Either they can't learn or you don't know how to teach.

In the Georgia game I saw the Vols correct two blaring weaknesses. Last year this team would have folded in the face of being down 27-10 early in the game. This years team did not quit and kept competing for the entire game. Also, the running game was punishing uga, especially on UT's last two drives. I believe the Vols were driving to score when Bray fumbled.

Now, if the defense sees this kind of improvement while learning the 3-4 then this well be a very dangerous team.

Either way, this Vol fan sees the team correcting their mistakes.

Both are listed as probable, Lathers is much better than Maggitt. Lathers is around 85 to 95% ready and Maggitt is around 80% toe still causing some issues. Both have been practicing.

Yea, I get the same feeling. I just know it would make a lot of Vols fans feel better to know that their defensive leader is going to be there going forward. Hopefully it is just a minor thing.

Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Cordarelle Patterson, AJ Johnson, Curt Maggitt, Brent Brewer, Prentiss Waggner, most of the O- and D-linemen...should I go on? Nearly every one of these guys could start for any team in the country. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that at least 15 guys off this squad will make all-star lists and get drafted into the NFL and at least a half-dozen more will get looks as free agents, compared to about, what, five in the last three years? Sure is too bad UT doesn't recruit difference-makers anymore, isn't it, DA? Just wait and see how many of these guys are on the POST-season all-star lists, compared to the smaller number who were on the PRE-season lists because of their youth and UT's less-than-stellar recent record.

Sure, these guys may or may not be the best there ARE at their positions, but they are certainly AMONG the best. Besides, you just cherry-picked guys from several different teams to come up with your list. My guys are all Vols, which I would say was a pretty impressive group from ONE rebuilding team. Sheez! Some people!

This made news here, really? UT is desperate for some UF news. Thompson is a promising player, no doubt, but he's a true Freshman TE who was assured of a redshirt even before his injury.

Meanwhile, UFs depth chart at TE looks like this: Jordan Reed, Clay Burton, Tevin Westbrook and Kent Taylor. UF also has Omarius Hines and Tray Burton who can play TE.

Stats from today's scrimmage. A solid day from the RBs. He might be small, but Devrin Young continues to be really consistent running and catching the ball. Really good to see Q. Watson with a 61yd scamper. However, he had 6 carries for 60 yds...ouch. THE BIGGEST THING........Palardy 4-4 on FGs, and Darr 43 yard average on punts. If Bray goes down or gets in trouble, I REALLY thing Worley is ready for the big show. Looks like a good productive day.

Its good to see that Patterson was able to play in the scrimmage despite the shoulder sprain.

Coach Zo has Tennessee high on the list of a few really good recruits from the state of Tennessee for next year. Nicholls from Briarcrest in Memphis and Hubbs. I'm not sure where Hubbs plays high school ball, maybe somebody can help meet out with that.

I don't know about the SEC poll, but I wouldn't mind if the powers that be under sold the Vols. It worked well for our guys last year.

My little brother hasnt seen JS play in person, so I took him to see a memphis summer league basketball game that Jarnell was playing in. The young man was impressive, he has all-american potential and a good head on his shoulders. Look for Stokes' ball handling and mid-range jumper to be much improved this year.

If you are predicting Tennessee to win the NC. The I'll predict that Stokes makes first team All-American.
