I really hope Britton is sincere in changing his ways. I still believe the Colquitt name is the difference between him just losing his scholarship and being kicked off the team outright. Sjt, he escaped without getting himself or someone else killed, so yeah, I think a 5 game suspension and losing his scholarship is getting off easy. Ask Leonard Little if you disagree. 99, I know what you are saying. It's easy to find God when you screw up and want people to forgive you. Like I said, I just hope Britton is sincere in his claims.

I don't think it should be as arbitrary as 8-4. I think the quality of the wins and losses should definately fit into the picture. I'm not a Fulmer-hater, but if he continues to be trounced by the gators and tide, I think that should matter. No way we should settle for just being a mediocre team. I don't expect championships every year, but I do expect us to actually compete. If your not in it to win it, then what's the point? And why should we as a fan base that pours millions of dollars into UT athletics accept mediocre. Like I said, nothing personal against Fulmer himself, but I expect the Vols to be in the hunt. 8-4 is sitting on the sidelines as other SEC teams enjoy that BCS money.

No real insight, but maybe the staff has other o-linemen they like better. I know according to rivals and scout there are several big o-linemen who are interested in us. Maybe the staff just likes them more and feels like they have a good shot at them. Who knows? Only time will tell.

General, I thought it was "biggest nuts in town", lol. I also heard the Rev once said, "Cas Walker has the best meat in town. Ain't that right, Mrs. Mull?" Man I sure miss those old Cas Walker stores. I remember when I was a kid going to the one on Maryville Pike with my pappaw. Those are some good memories.

"There but for the grace of God go I." Not so long ago, this was us. Wardlow waving his toy gun(he was exonerated too I believe), McDaniel breaking that guys jaw. It's sad that college athletes cannot take the gift of talent they have been given and keep their noses clean. How many of us would have loved to have their talent and the ability to play for our beloved teams? I know I would have. These "kids" need to be reminded that they are kids no longer. Coaches need to start handing out tougher punishment so they can learn they are living in the grown up world now where they face grown up punishment. These continual slaps on the wrist by the majority of college coaches just serve to send the message that there is no real consequence for your actions. It says those with talent are above the rules. It's time universities stopped sending that message. Representing your school and your team is a privelege. If they cannot appreciate that privelege, they need to be stripped of it. <sigh> Sorry for the rant, but I have grown tired of continually seeing these blessed athletes leading blessed lives and not appreciating it, while we common folk struggle by, trying to survive in a world where money has become tighter than my belt after Thanksgiving dinner! It's ridiculous, and I truly hope Richt and all the other college coaches(Fulmer included) come around and start dropping the hammer on these guys. On a lighter note though, being charged with rubbing a pregnant woman's belly? I guess you had to be there, but wow, that sounds totally ludicrous. Funny, but still ludicrous.

A question for savageo, or anyone else who might know. Aren't we expected to get Rae Sykes, Rufus Williams, and Cory Hall back from JC with this class? Sykes and Williams, if I remember correctly, are DEs, and I have heard that Hall has grown big enough to be a DT. Can anyone confirm this? As far as the Fordham kid goes, best of luck to him. Some kids just don't want to go too far from home. I don't think you can begrudge him that. SC is where his heart is. That being the case, no slight to Mr. Fordham, but we don't want or need him here if he can't give us his heart. I'm sure he's a talented kid and I'm sure if he could have given us his all, we would have wanted him, but he couldn't, so he's better off with the Gamecocks. Hopefully we find some kids on the defensive side of the ball willing to give us their all.

Okay, I can agree with you all that this isn't really a sports story that needs to be on GVX, but despite that, it's sad. Uga was a beautiful dog and my heart goes out to the owner(s). Now I'm not quite PETA/vegan animal crazy, but I do consider myself a lover of animals. To me, there is something quite amazing about these animal mascots that represent such great sports history. Think of the significance of Smoky to us, well at least some of us. But on the flip side they are also someone's loving pet. Make all the jokes that you will, but I still think it's sad.

The man is a class act. He played while recovering from cancer treatment and didn't use it as an excuse for his slow start. He always held his head high and represented our university in a positive way. I wish him the very best of luck and truly hope he makes some NBA team's bench. For any NBA team out there looking for guys with true character to go along with skill, look no further than Chris Lofton. God bless you Chris and thank you for being a Tennessee Vol!

Dustin avoided potential tragedy by mere minutes. I know the owner of the parked car and he was only 20-30 yds away from his car when the accident happenned. He had been out with some friends and was returning to his car and witnessed the whole thing. A few more minutes and he would have been in the car when Dustin barrelled into it. As I said before, this wasn't some minor thing. He hit the car pretty hard, on the driver's side. My friend could have been seriously injured if the timing had just been slightly different. Luckily, it wasn't. But I'm left to wonder if those of you who don't think he got off easy would feel the same if he had seriously injured someone? Would his priors have made you feel different then? The fact is, he's been given chance after chance and still hasn't learned. I have sympathy for Dustin as he is apparently in the grips of a terrible disease, alcoholism, but at some point he needs to take personal responsibility when it comes to seeking help. And in my opinion, it should have been several priors back. Most any other player would have been dismissed from the team, but not Dustin. Why not? The only thing I can figure is his last name. I am a huge Big Orange fan, and as much as it hurts me to admit(lol), football isn't the end all, be all of the universe. He should not have been allowed to stay on the team because of his famous family or because he could potentially help us win games. It's three strikes and your out, not five strikes and we'll just ignore it and hope it goes away. If the team represents the university, do we really want our reputation to be it's all right to drink and drive? Little, Goodrich, and now Colquitt. I hate casting any negative aspersions on our Volunteers, but CPF really needs to take a harder stand on this. Dustin, in my opinion, should have lost the privelege of representing UT. I only hope in all of this that Dustin has finally found help. I hope this isn't just another case of "well he made a mistake and let's move on". Once or twice is a mistake, five times is a habit. For his sake, I hope he has recognized he has a problem, and it's not getting caught. Please get help Dustin if you already haven't.

Hmmm.... Caught a few minutes of American Gladiator. "Justice" is 6'8", 290lbs. Wonder if he has any eligibility to come play DT for the Vols? :)
