I agree Turbo, it never should have been close to begin with. We were running along outscoring our opponents by a three touchdown margin through the first seven games (even with the FL loss) and figured that Memphis State would roll over and they didn't. Peyton throws TWO picks, Cobb isn't called down on the punt return and we let them score from the 5 with 40 seconds left in the game. It was ridiculous!
That one still sticks in my craw along with the 1988 NIT loss at MTSU; every loss to Ga Tech in the 60's & 70's; the ‘70 loss to Cow College that cost us the NC; North Texas State in '75; Duke in '76, '82 & '88; any loss to the Crimson Turd or Comodedoors; RUTGERS; Army in '86 and the humiliation of laying down to Washington State in the freezing rain in '88 (I got pneumonia from that one).

Can't believe I'm doing this but 99 is right and I'll defend him in that regard. He is actually more lucid and civil that a lot of OUR fans that post on here. I'll take cogent posts from 99 over the irrational, mundane, pedantic stupidity of 'slob and Jerkin' any day.

I don't get the JPW thing either; even 3rd Team. His completion rate is only 56% and he's a lock for 1.7 Int's per game. I guess what they see is 213 ypg and 2.85 TD's per game but HE HAS A 13-12 RECORD!!! How he can be on the Unitas and Maxwell lists too is just beyond me!

Tee is a wonderful person and had a fantastic Junior year. He put up good numbers in his Senior year as well. I would never try and take anything away from his accomplishments and what he has meant to the program. For anyone to make a comparison between Tee and Peyton is absurd. For anyone to suggest that some athletic supporter with a man-crush on him is actually Tee is even more absurd. (Sorry gavol-no offense intended)
Tee made All SEC his Senior year.
Peyton was an All-American; Sullivan Award winner; O'Brien Award winner; Unitas Award winner; Maxwell Award winner; All SEC twice; SEC Player of the Year; SEC Athlete of the Year; Academic All-American twice and SEC Honor Roll twice.
In their Junior and Senior seasons Tee had a 55.6 completion rate, 31 TD's, 4,481 yards and went 22-3. Peyton had a 61.8 completion rate, 56 TD's, 7,106 yards and went 21-4. The three losses to Florida is what sticks in everyone's craw.
UF was the simply the better team in '95. In '96 we should have beaten them hands down and '97 was a coin-flip but we took it on the chin in Gainesville. The Memphis State game was pathetic call and that crew should have never ref'd another game the rest of their lives. One or two plays in either of those three seasons would have made us National Champions.
In '98 we got every break possible to fall our way in several games. (Syracuse, UF in OT and Ark especially) The NC game it was no different. Back-up Marcus Outzen instead of Weinke??? Please! Peter Warrick, Travis Minor and William McCray have 3 receptions for a total of 26 yards between them (they averaged 250)? Leaverton makes an open field tackle on Warrick! The two big receptions to Peerless were pretty much the total of our passing game that night. Walk-on Tim Sewell has a blocked punt!!! Cheese only nets 28 yards rushing for the game! Minor, Coles, Warrick, McCray and Glenn only rushed for a total of 109 yards (they averaged 150)! They score 14 points when they had averaged 32 all season! We had ONE more big play than they did that night and that was Dwayne Goodrich's pick for a TD. Face it, Lady Luck was on our side that season for sure!
BTW, 'slob - Peerless was the Offensive MVP (not Tee) and Dwayne was the Defensive MVP (not Al, Darwin or Raynoch) so when you claim that Tee Martin won the National Championship you diminish that accomplishments of that team as a whole and they won BECAUSE they played as a team.

Hey slob'
Jeremaine Copeland:
1997 - 58 receptions for 732 yards with a 12.6 average and 9 TD's which were better numbers than Peerless had that year. That was also Marcus Nash's Senior year so JC wasn't even the main target! Peyton used JC as his #2 WR.
Jermaine's Senior year was half that because of the emergence of Peerless and Cedrick Wilson therefore he had fewer passes thrown his way. Also Tee threw a lot to Shawn Bryson out of the backfield but JC was his #3 WR.
Jeremaine's career numbers:
Passed for 199 yards (8.3 average)
Rushed for 145 (4.7 average) and 4 TD's
Received 1,361 yards (13.2 average) and 10 TD's
Punt Returns - 269 yards (7.9 average)
That's 1,974 career yards and 14 TD's; when you average 10.28 yards every time the ball is in your hands I don't call that a "wasted scholarship" especially when you factor in his leadership. Add into the equation that JC had a new QB his Senior year; since you seem to have no football intellect you probably don't understand that there is a difference.
How many Offensive players have we had that NEVER even sniffed 1,900 yards and 14 TD's in a career? But Jeremaine was a "wasted scholarship"? I've proven that you are dead wrong on Jeremaine and Seivers as well as having everyone on this board agree on Larry so we'll move on and you can scratch those two off your "beat a dead horse" list.

Who in their right mind would want to go over the middle with EB and DeMo bearing down on them? We're going to see a lot of WR's in the second half of games with alligator arms. There will be a lot of snot-bubbles and slobber-knockers coming off of opposing WR's this season!!!

BTW, forget his concentration, clutch catches and unbelievable hands...I challenge anyone to dispute that Larry was anything other than a very humble and appreciative true team player who would give credit to anyone but himself. He is a homer from Clinton and his love for the VOLS is unquestionable!
I think that he is working for a food sales company now but I could be mistaken.
I believe that his son, Charlie, is a TE or LB at Tech playing for Watson in Cookeville.

The NCAA should require EVERY school in every division in every sport to have Siran come and speak to their athletes. I sure wish Phillip and Bruce would have him speak to our kids.
To lose you wife and four children five weeks before Christmas is just unfathomable! I pray that the Lord blesses, comforts and heals Siran. I got sick of seeing him gain big yards on middle-screens but he will be in our families thoughts and prayers.
