I know its embarrassing. Our school wouldn't even come up with the money to hire an experienced Head Coach... don't get me wrong, we are very happy with Nikki as the choice but since she will probably only get around 300K per year, my biggest fear is she will leave in 3-4 years after she has some success. $300K for a women's basketball coach at a BCS school is near the bottom. I guess UCLA just doesn't care about WBB.

On Colorado coach withdraws name; Caldwell still in running at UCLA

Hey folks great news (depends on how you look at it)... but word out here is Nikki has accepted the job and there will be a press conference on Friday!

You should stop by our board on Scout... post your best wishes to Nikki! This will be greatly appreciated because some of the fans over there are nervous about hiring a #2 asst... perhaps you can set them straight...and tell everyone how great of a hire it truly is. I was really rooting for Nikki, glad she pulled through!

Isn't she your #2 assistant? Who is your #1 assistant?

I have a ton of respect for your program and what you have accomplished. There is no question that Nikki Caldwell will be a head coach some day...but in all honesty, for my alma mater UCLA - I hope we hire a coach who has some previous head coaching experience...I think we will and I predict we will see you in the Final Four within 4 years. Good Luck Vols, I hope Nikki remains to help you for at least another year.
